750 ml bottle at Jeffo"s place - whale hunting tasting. Overall I like the chocolaty character and the raisin touch. Compared to the Wooden Hell and the Fireside Chat, this was the least of ’em all.

650ml bottle, with white wax. Taster. Mostly hazy amber orange darker color. Thin khaki head. Couple dots of lace. Bigger caramel malt in the nose. Good rye whiskey aromas in the flavor. Lightly tart, tannic. Bigger sweet taste. Some light alcohol bite. Light creamy flavors. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, creamy, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Interesting, potent, flavorful, barrel aged barleywine.

650 mL bottle shared and opened by WillRunForBeer at his Merrimac flat. First beer tried in our little shindig. Many thanks! To Chimay long-stemmed goblet, it pours an amber-tinted murky cordovan with which showcased a fine whitish ringed head half a finger in length resting atop. Aromas straightaway of rum raisins, caraway seeds, vanilla beans, muskiness, bourbon oak, and toasted sourdough. Tastes the same with the addition of marshmallow root, orange extract, honey and brown malts, and banana peppers by mid-palate. Soil, wet hops, catnip, and cardamom by swallow. Interesting. Kind of a mishmash of flavors.

Bottle from trade, extra from Deyholla, thanks, Derek! Pours the color of black coffee with a scant off white head. Aromas of raisin, bourbon, caramel, a touch of spice. Taste is earthy sweet dark caramel malts, some mineral, then oak, vanilla and rye in the finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Aroma is barrel, bourbon, salty and a pickle like character, kind of odd. Flavor is mild bourbon character, and I get a lot of pickle juice character for this one, not sure what’s going on.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a dark amber color with aromas of bourbon, light rye, toffee, caramel, light vanilla and some booze. Flavors were the same smooth on the palate, better than the non barrel aged version.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very dark plum color. Almost flat and the cap was insanely rusted! Smells very tannic almost like a tawny port. Lots of grapes and fruity notes. No bitterness on the nose. Taste is pretty darn good. Fruity, lots of esters and cloves and honey. This is the sweetest barley wine I’ve ever had. Bourbon notes are subdued with a hint of vanilla.

22 oz. bottle. unsure vintage thanks to Adam Jackson. Thanks buddy. Dirty brown color. Nose is mostly rye whiskey and alcohol. Flavor is pretty complex. Caramel raisins, licorice, caraway seeds and rye whiskey. Has almost a pumpernickel bread bite to it as well. Alcohol is not distracting in the flavor and the texture is smooth. Real nice Barley wine.
