COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Schwartz came in at 9.5%abv with 56IBU’s, and is just the smooth, mellow dark beer we need at a time like this! The very subtle roast compliments the malt very well, and finishes nice, smooth and dry.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has a good amount of smoke and roast with backing dark grains. Flavor begins toasty with dark grains and then finishes with a bit of smoke.

This had a dark opaque brown body with a creamy tan head and left sheets of "lace" in its wake. The aroma had roasty dark malt with a touch of dark srone fruit. The flavor was lightly roasty, had some plums, a hint of licorice, and a moderate woody bitterness. Dry finish. Pretty decent.

Pour on tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Last leg of the Michigan Birthday Run. Pours a rich blackish pour a rich blackish opaque pour, dark and rich hued. Dark, and no color on the edged. A rich frothy tannish head sits atop laces well. Aromas are cocoa, toffee, and gentle sweetness. Cocoa. Initial is medium bodied, offering good solid malts, offering anise and cocoa, solid roast and good toffee, sweet caramel. Middle is sweetness, cocoa and caramel, though not overbodied. Finish is dry and roasty, toffee, roast. Dryness pervades. Finish is dry sweet hybrid. Nice robust flavors. Simple yet enjoyable.
