The Schwartz came in at 9.5%abv with 56IBUís, and is just the smooth, mellow dark beer we need at a time like this! The very subtle roast compliments the malt very well, and finishes nice, smooth and dry.

Draft at the brewpub. Didnít know this was imperialized, which is a complement given how well balanced yet robust this was. Lots of chocolate, smoke, and a touch of anise in the nose. Full body, light but lively carbonation, and a very nice, smooth schwarz for such a big beer. Roasted but pert, a good one.

Bottle shared at Natifest 12. Poured a black color with a large frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted malt bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable brew.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has a good amount of smoke and roast with backing dark grains. Flavor begins toasty with dark grains and then finishes with a bit of smoke.

This had a dark opaque brown body with a creamy tan head and left sheets of "lace" in its wake. The aroma had roasty dark malt with a touch of dark srone fruit. The flavor was lightly roasty, had some plums, a hint of licorice, and a moderate woody bitterness. Dry finish. Pretty decent.
