Bottle pulled out by TheAlum at the end of the GTMW line tasting - Pours mahogany. That’s it--that’s all my notes say. So screw you if you want to know what the head looked like. Nose is malt-forward, with cocoa and dry, lightly charred malt and light roast. Taste is molasses, brown sugar, and chocolate. Sugary sweet. Slick and medium-bodied.

Sample at OH! Growlers! Tasting on 01/31/2012: This brew pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Smoked malt in the nose along with a bit of dark chocolate. Medium body with a smoky character and flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of hops. The finish is moderately smoky with a malt aftertaste. Above average overall.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ughsmash (5828) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 6, 2011
Bomber. Poured clear, deep, garnet-tinted brown with a nice, but short-lived khaki head. The aroma picked up bright smoky notes, sweet molasses, and honey, with rich cocoa powder and vanilla not far behind.. it kept coming back to the smoke, but that managed to tie everything together well. The flavor found sweet molasses, milky chocolates, and vanilla at the core, with ever-so-slightly medicinal smoky notes laced throughout.. more ashy smoke and well-roasted, yet sweet malts on the long finish. Medium-bodied and a little grainy on the palate.. alcohol was held in check very well, letting the smoke and sweet malts shine.. overall a very solid brew.
