COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian-style ale aged on raspberries in an oak white wine barrel. Tartness from the wine barrel and some sweetness from the fruit. Belgian bliss!

Bottle…RBSG 2010… Murky caramel-colored ale with very little to no head. The aroma is acidic with a hint of caramel. Medium-bodied and milky with soft carbonation. The flavor is tart, bordering on sour, and very fruity. Finishes tart and tangy… then dries out.

Bottle shared by sleestak at the RBSG Summer Gathering. Thanks! Pours a murky orange-brown color with a thin head. Aroma of tart raspberries, some other tart fruits and a mild funkiness. The taste is a dry tartness, mild raspberry and faint citrus. Medium bodied. Tart. Good.

I’m guessing this is the right one, for what I had last night at the bruery party. This was one of the rarer bottles with only about 80 in existence. It was good overall albeit a bit thin.

GABF 2007. I’m surprised this rating is so low, I really liked this. Smells much like New Glarus Raspberry Tart with an added accent of strawberry-scented hand soap. Nice tartness up front and persisting in the middle with some resurgent acid. Dark yeasty things in the finish, which turns dry, lovely, and delicate on the tongue. A great fruity acid residue plays on top of the tongue, stays fresh, and is a great counterpoint to the dry yeasty things in the finish. Great beer.

GABF 2007. An unclear pale golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is acidic with strong notes of raspberries as well as light notes of wood. The flavor has a sharp acidity with notes of newly picked raspberries. Very refreshing.

Handbottle shared by MaxxDaddy. Aroma is dominated by teriyaki sauce, very odd. A touch of raspberry perhaps. Flavor is oaky wine, light tart, and even more teriyaki. Finishes with some nice raspberry. Perhaps not what was intended but this is still enjoyable.

Hand bottle shared by puddintane: Pours a clear red with a small white head. Aroma, raspberry, apple, very fruity, with a slight sweetness. Flavor, apples and raspberry, sweet, a slight tartness beyond the raspberries, is evident on the finsih.

On tap at Flossmoor Station and served in a snifter. This beer poured a ruby hued brown with a somewhat lasting beige head. A small amount of lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of tart raspberries, very mild biscuit notes, and some bread. The flavor included tart and sweet raspberries, light oak notes, white grapes, and a dry, acidic sourness. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a nice amount of fizzy carbonation. A very nice beer that has an interesting mixture of chardonnay and raspberry.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Hazy bronze pour has a frothy dark tan head. Aroma is bursting with great fresh tart raspberries seed character. Body has good light sweetness and fresh, tart fruity raspberry balance toward a crisp, dry finish with some oaky complexity. A very nice and true to style fruit/sour ale.

GABF 2007. Mostly transparent, ruddy-tinged gold colored pour with a thick layer of soft, off-white head. Killer fresh raspberry nose that accompanies some soft, cherry pinot noir dimensions. Loads of fresh, herbal fruit; the fruit character has an amazing fresh quality, and comes across clean and dry without the help of any tannins or other typical musty, vinous notes. Light bodied, sparkling carbonation, with a crisp, refreshing quality. The flavor brings out more of the funky vinous notes, sharpening it up with a touch of acidity. This character is actually a rather nice compliment to the pure fruitiness of the bouquet, contributing additional flavor complexity that was a balancing contrast to the fruit softness. Finishes dry and refreshing, with a subtle touch of fruit skin tannins lingering in the finish. Excellent beer - flavorful, drinkable, complex, and natural.
