puzzl (1648), New York, New York, USA May 22, 2008 Handbottle shared by MaxxDaddy. Aroma is dominated by teriyaki sauce, very odd. A touch of raspberry perhaps. Flavor is oaky wine, light tart, and even more teriyaki. Finishes with some nice raspberry. Perhaps not what was intended but this is still enjoyable. sliffy (1930), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 12, 2008 Hand bottle shared by puddintane: Pours a clear red with a small white head. Aroma, raspberry, apple, very fruity, with a slight sweetness. Flavor, apples and raspberry, sweet, a slight tartness beyond the raspberries, is evident on the finsih. mdm46410 (517), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jan 21, 2008 On tap at Flossmoor Station and served in a snifter. This beer poured a ruby hued brown with a somewhat lasting beige head. A small amount of lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of tart raspberries, very mild biscuit notes, and some bread. The flavor included tart and sweet raspberries, light oak notes, white grapes, and a dry, acidic sourness. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a nice amount of fizzy carbonation. A very nice beer that has an interesting mixture of chardonnay and raspberry. CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Dec 16, 2007 On tap at the 2007 GABF: Hazy bronze pour has a frothy dark tan head. Aroma is bursting with great fresh tart raspberries seed character. Body has good light sweetness and fresh, tart fruity raspberry balance toward a crisp, dry finish with some oaky complexity. A very nice and true to style fruit/sour ale. awaisanen (1116), Irvine, California, USA Dec 10, 2007 GABF 2007. Mostly transparent, ruddy-tinged gold colored pour with a thick layer of soft, off-white head. Killer fresh raspberry nose that accompanies some soft, cherry pinot noir dimensions. Loads of fresh, herbal fruit; the fruit character has an amazing fresh quality, and comes across clean and dry without the help of any tannins or other typical musty, vinous notes. Light bodied, sparkling carbonation, with a crisp, refreshing quality. The flavor brings out more of the funky vinous notes, sharpening it up with a touch of acidity. This character is actually a rather nice compliment to the pure fruitiness of the bouquet, contributing additional flavor complexity that was a balancing contrast to the fruit softness. Finishes dry and refreshing, with a subtle touch of fruit skin tannins lingering in the finish. Excellent beer - flavorful, drinkable, complex, and natural.
