Draft on tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Top Rater of Flossmoor Beers. Pours a bigger hazed body, ruby brown pour, good haze, tannish head that is a small layer, laces as a small yet full film. Aromas offer tart cherries, good fruit, cranberry, vinegar touches, big red fruit and berry, some oak and red wine influence. As it warms, more potent. Funky brett, vanilla, kiss of spice I notice. Bigger apple, tropical fruit, more cherry, some yogurt. Touches of base but really a solid nose with that telltale Flossmoor wild beer feel. Initial is a tangy red fruit and zip up front, good sourness, pomegranate, cherries, and cranberries. Touches of red wine, slight vinegar. Touches of oak, richer fruit. Middle shows more rich red fruit, grapefruit, decent sour bite hits. Backend is gentle bready malt mixing in with berry tartness, cherryskins, sweeter red wine type feel and oak. Pretty solid sour here, rich and vibrant fruit flavors give some hommage to earlier Flossmoor sour offerings (Before they got a little old and acedic due to age) like Rosie Pom. A particular Flossmoor Funk feel that I’ve missed. Very nice work here.
