On tap at the brewpub (Flossmoor, IL). Pours a nice deeper amber gold hue, gentle haze grows with some nice offwhite head layers that lace ok overall. The nose is a medium hoppy built, floral and earthy, good dryness and a bit resiny with lemons dancing in and out. A touch of bready malts, grainy, lighter sweetness allows the hops (albeit not the most complex offering) to show liberally. Initial is medium bodied, a good richer bitterness up front offers good florals, earth, and grass. A bit resiny, some pine and gentle lemon elements coming in. Middle shows some lemon, gentle citrus, and florals. Touches of bready malts, grainy, with gentle sweetness. Well built as far as a maltbill that doesn’t interfere. The hop profile, while firmly bitter, seems to lack character. Dry and bitter finish, a bit resiny. Lacking a complex hop build. Certainly a very solid beer, a good melange of more complex hops could be the key that would push this one over the edge. Still, a very nice beer with a lot of potential.
