A Belgian Strong Ale, kept simple: fine European Pilsner Malt, sugar in the raw, and just enough hops for balane. The simplicity allows the yeast to fully express its fruit and spice character, with a touch of malt, and a dry, crisp finish.

Deep gold pour, white head. Aroma of honey, belgian yeast, spice, graham cracker, golden raisin. Flavor is sweet, honey, honeydew fruit, sugar cookies. Not bad.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer is a hazy dark yellow color with a medium white head and spotty lacing. Yeast and herbs in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of yeast, malt and herbal hops. The finish is sweet biscuit malt and mild hops. Decent overall.

Draft at Belgian Fest. Pours a deep gold with a white head that falls flat. Nose is clean pilsner malt, some light pepper notes and fruity. Some alcohol is noted as well. On tasting, moderate bitterness, pils malt dominates. Clean with some fruity notes. Nice Golden Strong with a clean fermentation. Warming.

Draft on tap at Belgian Fest (Chicago, IL). Pours a hazy golden yellow hue, some touches of haze, frothy whitish head. Dies to a looser bubbly film, laces ok. Aromas are cereal and crisp, some wet cardboard and honey. Some gentle fruit. Initial is mellow sweetness, honey and doughy malts, with some honey, crisp apples, and gentle honey. Doughy malts, some spice, bread, yeast. Gentle sweetness, dryness, and sweet fruit elements. Some hops. Overall though, the flavors and balance of the beer work well. A bit sweet, yeasty into the backend and finish. Meh. I don’t really dig beers like this. Ok.

On draft at Flossmoor, poured a light yellow color, aromas of yeast, light malt, and some fruit. Flavors follow suit, nice banananay aftertaste, refreshing overall, solid beer.
