COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our "Hi-Fi Rye" is brewed with almost 60% malted rye to give this beer a very rich and intense maltiness. The American hop varieties used impart complex citric, spicy, earthy notes, and combine to amplify the rye character. The tradition of the barley wine-style ale is carried out with this ode in rye. Cheers!

Spicy rye nose, some chocolate, soft citrus hop notes and light alcohol. Pours dark auburn beige foam on top. Lots of dark spicy rye notes. Pepper, juicy citrus fruits. More spicy rye. Sweet, fruity, dry and spicy. Creamy smooth mouthfeel with really nice rye spice and flavor. Hell yeah thanks Joe! Fuck hoarders!

On tap@ the maproom. Dark brown with a beige head. Sweet nose some grain touch of alcohol though nothing too strong in the nose. A little overly sweet lots of earthy hops that rye and toasted malts that also contend with that earthiness. Sweet but decent. Slick body Long earthy bitter finish.

Tap at maproom. Pour is ruby red with a small white head. Aroma is caramel malt, fair amount of hops, and a light spice. Really no much rye noticeable. Flavor is clean with a more potent hop punch than expected. Hops are lightly citrus with pine background. Also caramel malt with very little re spice. Got more and more rich as it warmed. Fairly easy to drink.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Nice looking dark mahogany color, thin dark tan head. Nice full aroma, fruity malts and slight sweet hops. Doesn’t taste like 11% - thick and malty, nice smooth finish. Don’t get a lot of the caraway, but a decent brew.

Bottle courtesy of Ryan at the Rosso release. Pours a clear brown without any head really. Sweet from the start with a nice citrus rye note, almost like a rye candy. Malty and spicy, quite nice actually. Light bitterness balanced on a spicy and tannic finish.

Slightly reddish brown. Tan head in a ring w/ spotty lace. Banana-ish tuti-fruity sort of nose, reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum to some extent, overall very sweet smelling. Creamy thick palate. Lip coating cotton candy like sweetness. A bit of chocolate and darker malt character. The mouthfeel from such a large amount of rye in a high gravity beer is really something but this cloys a bit w/o quite enough bitterness to bring real balance.

22 oz bottle from the release (Flossmoor, IL). Pours a very dark brownish red, red edges, with a decent offwhite head that dies to a decent film that clings and laces ok. Darker. Aromas are a plethora of rye malts, rye bread, citrusy and floral hops, a good bitter nose. Initial is rye malts, malty up front, a touch of cocoa, bread, caramel, not overly sweet, toasty, a bit of a thicker body, a touch of caraway, truly rye bread with a bit of caramel sweetness in a glass. Heavier body, good floral hops but not as bitter on the palate in taste. This beer is tasty, fruity and a bit jammy on the nose, full. Full on the palate, tasty, a lot of rye. Not bad, but not as great as I expected.
