COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our "Hi-Fi Rye" is brewed with almost 60% malted rye to give this beer a very rich and intense maltiness. The American hop varieties used impart complex citric, spicy, earthy notes, and combine to amplify the rye character. The tradition of the barley wine-style ale is carried out with this ode in rye. Cheers!

Bomber 2012 vintage poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of rye, earthiness, citrus, spice and light cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of rye, earthiness, caraway and light citrus with a smooth lingering rye finish.

Bottle in Chicago with TheAlum. Thanks Adam! 2011 vintage. Pours a murky dark orange appearance with little head. Fairly spicy, caramel, a bit oxidized, a touch fruity aroma. Fairly rich spicy rye, light toffee, mild molasses, a bit fruity, herbal flavor. Very smooth for the abv.

Bottle… Farewell to ibrew2or3… Clear, dirty orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aromatic highlights are spicy rye malt, sweet-rich caramel malt and citrus-fruity hops. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor furnishes a boatload of hop and rye spiciness, lupulin bitterness and plenty of caramel malt sweetness to balance things out a touch. This one still leans toward the bitter side when all is said and done. Lengthy, bittersweet finish… the bitterness lingers a long, long time.

Thanks to pittsburgh kid...what a bonus beer! Reddish pour. Tan head. Aroma is awesome with fruit, maple syrup, spice cake, brown sugar and hops. Flavor is much the same. Rich and full bodies...brown sugar, toffee, caramel, hops...damn what a beer. Top notch.

Bottle shared by BrewEngingeer at the 12th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 9/18/10. Pours a clear plum color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of rye, toffee and an earthy finish. The taste is sweet toffee notes, bitter rye and a faintly hoppy finish. Medium-full bodied. One of the hits of the tasting for me, easily. Damn good beer. Thanks James!

Bottle with extreme thanks to not so Secret Santa Msante79. Amazing brew! Pours almost black with brownish hues and tan head. Nose is dark raisin, dark fruits and molasses. Taste of raisin, thick caramel, molasses, rye and spice. Beautifully crafted master brew.

Bottle thanks to BA billshmeinke. Pours with a clear bronze-copper body with a small tan head that shrinks but stays. Aromas are hoppy, sweet, citrus, pine, rye, bready, crisp, light chocolate and rose water. Very much an American Style Barley Wine. Flavors are sweet, rye, strong bitterness, caramel, pine, hops, marzipan, alcohol and burnt toffee. Medium bubbles, some warmth. Strong lingering bitterness.

Bomber. Poured medium orange with a short-lived, but easily-resuscitated beige head. The aroma picked up sweet honey, vanilla, and lesser molasses accented by spicy rye, orange meat, and light oxidation.. loved it! The flavor found honey, licorice, and molasses sweetness at the core, with lots of black pepper, rye, and orange liqueur laced throughout.. dried out and scorched the back of the mouth a little (in a good way).. long, warm finish with great carryover orange and peppery rye. Heavier-bodied with full carbonation on the palate.. this held up remarkably well!

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2011 A big thanks to Alex for this tasty treat. Pours clear mahogany with thin tan head. The aroma has smooth dark fruitiness, a nice load of rye spiciness and then a bit of booze heat. The taste is a wonderful mix of sweet dark fruitiness and spicy rye that blends into pervasive yet constrained yum! This stuff is smooth sweet spicy and wonderful. Wow!
