dm9831 (503), Monee, Illinois, USA May 1, 2005 just a whiper of whiskey in the aroma. attractive amber color, dark rich head. the taste was reminicent of a good brandy. a slightly fizzy palate. a bit heavy to use as a session beer. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Mar 7, 2005 Nice stuff. Growler courtesy of Noah. Pours a dark amber with a small off-white head. Pleasant sweet aroma of caramel, honey, some orange rind. Hops. Medium bodied and gently carbonated. Slightly syrupy but not cloyingly so. Flavor was subtle honey and hops and touch of alcohol. mj23 (63), south holland, Illinois, USA Feb 8, 2005 Light hoppy, with also a bit of a port/molasses aroma as well.Excellent lacing, off white head. Nice red color with a strong finish and kick. RAYBOY01 (1550), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 29, 2005 Why am I drinking a Maibock brewed in late January? Too sweet and a little cloying, but a nice alcohol kick to it. Not my first choice at this brewpub, but I like their spirit! Aureth (20), Knoxville, Iowa, USA Jan 12, 2005 Updated: Feb 20, 2005I wasn’t expecting a maibock to be quite this sweet! The bartender, upon hearing my exclamation ’This is sweet!’ claimed it was made with four types of honey. Whether that’s true or not, the beer itself was a bright amber color, slight head that dissapated rather quickly, very sweet and somewhat syrupy at the start, with a bit of a bitter and alochol finish at the end. Very smooth.
