Big roasty nose...Pullman Brown-like in it’s intensity and sweetness...dark caramel and burnt toffee, brown sugar and maple syrup. The tart raspberries add a surprisingly sharp highlight...very sweet/tart. The barrel adds some vanilla and oak to the mix. Nice experiment.

FoBAB 08. Pours a cloudy brown with a small tan head. Chocolate, coffee, and raspberry in the aroma. The chocolate and raspberry really came through in the flavor. Good stuff.

FoBAB 2008, Chicago: Poured a cloudy brown with a slender off-white head. It had an aroma of chocolate, strawberry, and lightly roasted malts. The strawberries were ligfhtly tart in the flavor and a dose of vanilla was added. Not a bad brew.

FoBAB 2008. Poured an opaque dark brown color. The head was light brown with an orange tint. Smelled of coffee, chocolate, and raspberry. Dry-ish and medium bodied. Pleasant tart raspberry and chocolate brownie graced the flavor. There was also a woody note akin to a #2 pencil.

FoBAB 2008 offering: #704. An offering from Flossmoor that I was very excited to try and very excited for medalling. This brew started with a deep, dark pour complimented by a small offwhite head. Aromas are chocolatey and mixed with some vanilla and light coffee hints. Taste is very raspberry chocolate, not some cheap imitation, but a Fannie May gourmet feel to it or actual chocolate and fresh raspberries in a sort of decadent array. Subtle roasted malt compliment the taste well and finishes off with a nice bitter touch and some mocha-like end notes and aftertaste. Smooth, medium bodied, very nice, very sessionable. Cheers!

Fobab VI. I had to have this as my girlfriend’s name is Jenni, which I later called her and let her know. Yay fobab. Anyway, a pretty robust beer, nice looking dark brown with an offwhite head. Nose of chocolate dipped raspberries and some vanilla. Taste is pretty pleasant, lightly raspberry with roasty undertones, a kiss of bitterness. Pretty well balanced and nice. Kinda like a small beer version of Clare’s Thirsty Ale, ’cept by a different brewery altogether. Nice.
