On tap at the brewpub
Golden amber is on the light end of the Fest color range; Virtually no aroma but some malt and hops can be discerned if you sniff hard enough to practically suck your nostrils shut. Flavor is farily well balanced between malt and hops. Could have used a bit more malt body as this beer pushes the acceptable bitterness threshold for the style. Long medium hop finish. More enjoyable than my "3" rating would suggest but the rating comes from having from virtually no aroma and a need for just a tiny bit more body.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
I finally thought this beer would break the trend of Flossmoor beers with that stale musty flavor that is in all of the other beers, but it didn’t, so it must not be a yeast thing but something in the brewing system to give it that taste. Anyways, this octoberfest pours a deep orange with a nose of nuts and caramel. The flavor was malty and nutty with the Flossmoor flavor dominating. Much thicker than I was expecting, which made it harder to drink. Not bad for a first lager, but I wouldn’t try this again.
