FoBAB 2008. Poured a slightly hazy medium orange color with a soapy white head. Smelled of bourbon, vanilla, and orange liqueur. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. I tasted orange cream, raw alcohol, butter, and citrsuy hops. There was some mild lingering bitterness. Good beer.

Fobab VI. Pours a decent orangy brown, very light nose of bourbon, spicy hops actually kind of jump over the bourbon, which is a nice change of pace.Nice chunk of fruitiness comes through as well, kind of reminds you of a caramel apple, actually. Pretty nice.

A couple of these in honor of the Collaborative Evil release on tap. Poured a very nice thick hazy brownish-copper hue with a small off white head. Aromas are heaven, mixing oak elements mingling with nice caramel malts and some fruity sweetness. Yum! The hops have fallen out in the aging of this bad boy in a Woodford Reserve barrel, but that’s not a reason for sadness. The brew itself gives some very nice malt and fruity sweetness up front, a touch of belgian spiciness, then moving quickly to some of the more prominent oaky characteristics, prominent bourbon with some hints of vanilla in between. Nice mouthfeel, good body, not too strong (However, you certainly won’t miss the alcohol.. it’s there). This was a beer I can’t wait to try again. Cheers!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
GTMW 2008: Hazy bronze hue with a small lasting head. The aroma has notes of vanilla and oak, caramel and bready malts, apricot and pear esters, earthy Belgian yeast, no note of hops however. The taste is sweet malt and bourbon over layers of yeast and wood. Again not much hop bitterness found within. The mouth feel was shockingly smooth and really not that boozy. Okay methinks, which it was dry-hopped or something however...

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 12, 2009 gtmw 08....not sure why my score ended up so low on this one....transparent yellor brown pour, pretty heady as it was getting pretty low at this point of the day i believe (or was that something else).... woody aroma, light bourbon and vanilla with little discernable hops.... flavors were sweet toffee and vanilla with faded hops and bourbon. slight earthly hoppy bitterness in the finish....
had this again over the Collabo Evil release. Heavily woody and a little too bourbon laiden which took away from the original essence of the base ipa.
