3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 crossovert (4565) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Nice imperial red here. It is hoppy and robust yet not a chore to finish. Malts and hops both shine.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ROGUE (1566) - Newark, Delaware, USA - OCT 10, 2012
On tap at Brew Pub. Pours a deep amber color with a light tan head and decent retention. Aroma is piney hops mainly, with notes of citrus and light caramel malt. Taste has a piney hop backbone with a light citrusy base and a bit of caramel malt. Medium to light bodied with medium carbonation.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 csaso (942) - Missouri, USA - OCT 9, 2012
Tap - big thick head, beautiful dark amber color, very nice big grapefruit
hop aroma and favor, balanced well with sweet malt - almost more of an IPA than an Amber ale
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 8, 2012
Had on tap at Blind Pig in Champaign. Served in a pint glass.
A: Pours a very deep purple and red mixture with a nice, 1 finger off white head. It clings to glass like webs creating a beautiful looking beer.
S: I was so hyped up by how great the beer looked that the nose was a little bit of a let down. It wasn’t bad, but didn’t excite me. Bready malts with a subtle grapefruit and sweet berry. Pretty typical.
T: The was slightly better with some sweeter, caramel malt notes and light hoppiness to it. Also present were some notes of grapefruit and a touch of sweet berry.
M: Ample carbonation with a medium bodie and sticky sweet finish.
O: The was a decent red, but there wasn’t anything that really caught my eye. Right about par for the style.
Serving type: on-tap

On tap at the brewpub, pours a clear dark amber with a thick white head, the aroma has a nice citrus and hop touch with a nice malt backing as well, the flavor has a good hop kick in the front end with a balance of malt in the finish, very hoppy compared to standard amber ales but really works, nice.
