Commercial Description:
This robust, dark brown ale gets its rich flavor from seven different malts and three types of hops. The addition of hand-toasted oats and a generous portion of molasses give the Pullman Nut Brown Ale an incredible smoothness and quaffability.

Bomber courtesy of msante79 – thanks Mark! Pours deep dark brown with a big 3 finger tan head. The nose is cocoa, roasted malt and toasted oats. The taste is ashy cocoa, burnt malt, some dark fruit and piney hops in the finish. Medium, very prickly mouthfeel. Interesting beer, comes off more like a porter than a brown, with the mouthfeel of a saison. Good stuff nonetheless. Thanks again Mark!

Bottle courtesy of msante79. Pours brown with a thin off white head. Smells of roasted malt, earthy, some tea, dark fruit. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malt, some bitter hints. Very full bodied.

Probably my favorite from Flossmoor. Nose is sweet and dark caramelized syrup and roasted malt. Taste is molasses, bacon fat, smoked meat, tar, and bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick but lively. Medium to long finish. Very complex taste.

Sampled from 22-oz bottle during Dark Lord Day ’09 at table 5. Pours a clear brown caramel brew with a thick off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted multi-grain biscuits, roasted nuts with a touch of flowery hops. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation with a sweet malt and light dry bitterness with flavors of roasted dark malt, chocolate and some flowery hops. Finish is syrupy, dry with a toasted biscuit and nutty aftertaste.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, malts, light roasting, bitter coffee, oats, molasses and grains. Poured very dark brown in color with a huge, fluffy, rocky, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malts, chocolate, nuts, oats, light roasting, light molasses, and a hint of vanilla. Medium to full body. Smooth, creamy, airy texture. Average to lively carbonation. Sweet, chocolate, nut, slight molasses, slight roasted finish is a tad chalky.

22oz bottle courtesy of wkcyr4 poured into a pint glass. This one pours very dark brown, darker than I was expecting with a small tan head that recedes pretty quickly and leaves only a trace of lacing. The aroma really blew me away, probably the best brown I’ve ever smelled. Tons of dark roasted malts balance with the sweetness of the molasses - a perfectly balance combination with a hint of coffee and smoke in the nose as well. The taste picked up where the nose left off, with tons of caramel malts and some roasted coffee forming a solid backbone. The molasses really balances that roasted character before the finish provides a bit of chocolate sweetness and a hint of hops. The mouthfeel is pretty full and the molasses consistency can really be felt as it gets almost syrupy...but not quite. Well, this is one of the best brown ales I’ve ever tasted. Flossmoor continues to impress and this is no exception.

On tap @ brewpub. By far the best brown ale I’ve had. Rich, complex, honey, nutty, etc. Don’t remember the details, but this was beautiful indeed.
