Draft @ brewery. Creamy mocha (heavy on the coffee-light on the chocolate) and light roasty aroma. Black brown with a small creamy beige head. Coffee, roasty nutty malt flavor. Medium creamy body, soft carbonation. The brewery may call this brown, but it is definitely more porter like. Very nice, whatever it is.

Pours a deep brown with a finger and a half head. Had aromas of syrup, honey, vanilla, and a bit nutty. Very sweet up front, no hop bite. Really thick and creamy, but was not very heavy. Had this real thick, syrupy aftertaste. Real good brown ale, seeing as this is not a porter.

On tap at Brew Pub. Poured a deep brown color with reddish hues and a one finger tan head that fell to a cap. Aroma was mild. with light notes of chocolate, biscuit, and coffee. Taste was dominated by a nutty chocolatiness. Coffee and toasted malt ware also present with a light biscuity flavor. Mouthfeel was medium and smooth.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 4, 2012
Poured from 750 mL bottle into pint glass. Served at slightly below cellar temp.
A: Pours a creamy dark brow almost nearing black with some cherry hues around the edges. Tan one finger head that leaves pretty quickly leaving a thin film on the top. Slight lace as the beer goes down, but nothing substantial.
S: What a smell! I could smell it from a good 2-3 feet away after it had poured. A light black liquorice comes through right away with a boozy undertone as well. Malts are noticeable as well.
T: A heavy roast taste is immediately apparent with an emphasis on the molasses. This is followed by a nice coffee bean and bitter cocoa flavor that stays nicely on the tongue between each sip. The boozy/liquorice smell isn’t too heavy in the actual taste which i like.
M: Medium to heavy bodied, bordering on a whole milk type feeling with a medium carbonation
O: A really great brown ale. I like the bitter chocolates and coffee and the molasses really comes through to make it a great lounging around on a cold night (or morning!) beer.

22oz bomber poured into an English pint. Pours black with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Coffee, caramel, chocolate and a little sour on the end. Light bodied with a somewhat sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, pretty good. I would drink it again.
