mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2007 On tap at Flossmoor, 9/22/07. Deep mahogany brown in color with nice dense tan foam that has phenomenal retention and lacing. Aroma is surprisingly hoppy with lots of malt hiding beneath. Initial flavor is jam packed with lots of rich maltiness and very nice hoppiness, the bummer is as the pint goes down, the beer loses more and more character. Complex at first and then very pedestrian. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Pullman Nut Brown

bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 29, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Dark brownish black in color with a big cream head. Slightly sour, nutty aroma with hints of the malt and a bit of wood. Flavor profile pretty much followed the aroma to a "T". Pretty good stuff. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jul 30, 2007 On tap at the brew-pub. Very dark pour. It’s not really brown at all. Nice roasty malty aroma with some hops noticeable. Roasty and bready flavor with plenty of hop bitterness. The molasses was also noticeable and meshed well. Very smooth, drinkable beer. If I could get there on a regular basis, I would be drinking this one pretty regularly. Probably the best brown ale I’ve had to date. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 12, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown in colour with a medium sized head. Thsi might be a bit off. Feels somewhat oxidized. Sweet and malty and not at all balanced. MoDog (910), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jul 8, 2007 On tap at Flossmoor Station, and served in a shaker. This brown ale poured a super dark brown color with a small tan head that slowly dissolved. Some light lacing was left behind. The aroma consisted of excellent, rich chocolate notes, roasted malts, light nuts, and a bit of coffee. The flavor had a huge chocolate taste, some nice roastiness, and a bit of hops at the finish. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied with very faint carbonation. This was a really big brown ale. The taste was huge, and the palate is super thick for this style. This was an excellent brew!!! sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 30, 2007 On tap @ the brew pub: Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma, nutty caramel, toasted notes. Flavor, nutty, toffee, toasted malts, some earthy notes. Medium carbonation, roasted bitterness. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jun 1, 2007 Draught. At the brewpub. Off the top, have to say FeloniusCaper is spot-on - to me this is a porter, and a pretty solid one. Poured opaque ruby/walnut brown with an average creamy tan head. Aroma of nutshell, chocolate and light coffee, deep roast malt and dry floral hops - I was even detecting Nestle’s Quik in there, although there’s detectable bitterness for all the roast. The taste is like the aroma, a melange of fairly deep roast elements, lett nutshell and more lactic character - and still enough dry floral hops to remind you they’re there. The body is pretty thick - for either a nutbrown OR a porter - and it’s mildly (and appropriately) carbonated, has just a hint of acidity, and finishes very quickly. Very nice - perhaps a tad syrupy, but smooth and balanced.
