jaustin72403 (3), USA does not count Apr 30, 2006 This is an excellent example of an English Brown. The toasy malt character is amazing, I love that in a beer. Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a lacy off-white head. The beer itself has an amazing malt profile, with a great balance. This beer won first place in the Brown category at the World Beer Cup, so that tells you something. This is quite a beer. This is year round on tap at the brewery. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Apr 28, 2006 Pours to a very dark brown. Can’t see through it much at all except near the edges. The beer has a nice creamy tan head with a nice lacing. The aroma is soapy walnuts, oatsacks. The flavor is heavily walnuts, peanuts, molasses, raw oats. The palate is creamy, medium-full bodied. Pretty tasty for a nut brown. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 17, 2006 wow, pretty close to a stout. dark brown but not rich in aroma, flavor is great...big and full. creamy, sweet, and woody. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2006 unimpressive aroma. nice appearance. tastes like Hexnut. very nutty. warm temp brings out the alcohol mercilessly. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Dec 8, 2005 Tap at Flossmoor. Poured a very small off-white head that was mostly lasting, poor lacing, transparent, uncarbonated, and a reddish brown hue. Malty, nutty and hoppy aroma. Flavor was malty, roasty, nutty, and rich. Smooth palate. Light-medium body. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Dec 5, 2005 Very Dark Brown Coloring with Sandy Ring. Light Woody Aroma. Woody Notes on the Tongue, Along with Light Nutty Notes, Smooth Mouthfeel Overall...and Syrapy Sweet. Very Smooth with a Light Dry Ending. Nice Brown. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA Oct 30, 2005 On tap at the brewpub Pours an unusually dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma of walnuts and dry grain with some sour grass notes. Unusually fruity flavor for the style -- raisins and dates -- accompanied by dry grain, medium malt sweetness and a medium hop finish. Slightly thin body and palate like many commercially available iterations. A bit on the fruity side but basically to style. One of Flossmoor’s best. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA Oct 19, 2005 GTMW- Pours a dark brown, small off white head. Aroma of whiskey, dark bakers chocolate. Flavor is caramel, molasses, toffee, sweet malts and fruits.
