3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gusler (2654) - Tucson, USA - APR 5, 2002
Nice dark garnet, almost brown, light chocolate head decent lace. Roasted grains, and light hop under tones dominate the nose. Start is slightly sweet, top is light to medium, the finish is nicely hopped, dry with moderate carbonation. My bottle says that it was bottled and brewed by ’Riverside Brewery’ at least this is a drinkable beer, the Riverside beers are ’SWILL’.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown with a small nougat coloured head. The aroma holds roasted dark bread, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses, dark fruits, nuts, wet stone and a whisper of earthy/spicy/floral hops. The flavour is light to medium sweet, light bitter and tiny acidic with notes of dark bread, nuts, brown sugar, molasses, mild cocoa, chocolate, dark fruits, metal and a touch of earthy/spicy/floral hops. The mouthfeel is soft, round, velvety and tiny sticky with a light carbonation. Mild roast, molasses and well balanced hops on the finish. Medium bodied.

This has a slightly sour aftertaste. It has a lot of nuttiness to it in an odd way. Dark brown pour with moderate head.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Theis (9252) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 2, 2012
Draught at Flossmoor Station - brewpub. Dark brown - white head. Roasted, nutty, sweetness, nice bitterness, cocoa, toasted, high malty, light hoppy. This is not a porter.

Bottle from the restaurant--scored is marked a little low since Nut Brown isn’t in my top half of favorite brews, that said, this brew is well made. Poured a deep brown with a thin tan head. Nice roasted coffee aroma. Taste was roasted malt with molasses. Nice bitter finish. I really didn’t see it as a porter myself.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jfenglish (356) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2012
Standard market, draft. Very dark, almost black. Licorice and coconut and cocoa powder all coming to the nose. Rich dark chocolate and more coconut with a bit of alcohol heat all mix together nicely. This is rich and sweet, good for dessert.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 dinkle50 (333) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Dark pour, not really brown. Aroma is sweet with caramel. Taste is a little machine like. After taste is slightly acrid. This could have been from an old keg, but I wasn’t impressed. Not what I expected.

Dessert in a bottle YUM YUM. You can really taste the molasses! Drinks like a Stout or porter, although its a Nut Brown Ale.

First beer I have had by Flossmoor and I want more. What a nice complex brown ale. I dont know why its classified as a porter as there was very little roastyness and the color was well.... brown, but to each his own. Very nutty lightly sweet caramel flavors with a nice hoppy finish to round it out.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Ernesto987 (1504) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 23, 2012
Very rich a roasty, a delicious sweetness from the molasses, tastes home-brewed.

Aroma is malty along a strong hint of sweetness, probably from the molasses. The flavor is caramel and malty and has a heavy sweetness from the molasses. Decent ale although the molasses made it a bit too sweet for my tastes.
