Cask pour at Jake Melnick’s Charity Event (Chicago, IL). Pours a well hazed amber gold hue, healthy darker glow with a small filmy offwhite head atop. Dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are a decent kick of sourness, lactic acid mixes with lemons, faint yogurt, and touches of fruit, with gentle melon, some yogurt. Initial is sweeter than anticipated, a bit yeast up front with a kinda watery palate feel. Gentle sourness of lemon and apple mix with bland bread dough, flaked wheat, and touches of mellow yogurt. Very apple-y, some crab apple sourness quickly moves into apple juicey sweetness, mellow, a touch watery. Underbodied. Finish is gently acidic, with lingering fruit, apple vinegar shows just a touch. Ok, a bit underwhelming.
