(evidently the LoSBD tasted this almost two and a half years ago, and i am just rating this from my notes stuffed in a cigar box). it pours pepsi colored with a light brown head. roasted coffe flavor, which was overall a bit too sweet to me. the finih was slightly bitter. entertaining if a bit too sweet for me. maybe it was a bit too early for this brew.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of finely sized long lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained no carbonation, was transparent and dark ruby red brown in color. Its aroma was unnoticible. Its mouth feel is initially smooth and mild with a mild smooth aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild bready malty notes. A very average brew.

Tap at Flossmoor. Poured a small off-white head that was mostly lasting, fine sized bubbles, excellent lacing, transparent, and a orange-red hue. Aroma was very, very mild. Flavor was malty and somewhat roasty. Smooth palate. Light-medium body.

Brown/Copper Coloring with Faint White Ring. Faintest Malt Aroma on the Nose. Carbonated, Light Malt Notes. Lightly Dry Mouthfeel...Almost Nothing to This One. I Don’t Think Milds Have to be This Boring.

On tap at brewpub 11/12/2005. Off-white fake tan head. Dark copper/amber body. Grainy sweet cereal and cologne aroma. Sweet grainy non-alcoholic brandy taste.

Clear copper-brown, thin head. Aroma is light roasted grain and odd off-sour fruit. The light roast is mimicked in the flavor and thankfully the sour aroma is not. Slightly sweet with medium hop bitterness. Somewhat thin body and palate like many of its British contemporaries, of which this is a fairly accurate recreation. Sour aroma does a lot of damage to the final score; otherwise this is a solid effort.

Brown color with no head or aroma. Very vague taste of malt. I know milds are supposed to be mild, but this might be overboard.

I was very pleased with this beer. Dark brown in color with a medium tan head. Aroma smells of leather and a little chocolate. The first taste shows that it is very easy to drink; thin but pleasureable. This is a gateway beer. As for the flavor, there is a mild dark roasted grain flavor along with nut and leather flavor. Not much hop bitterness, but it is not overly sweet: more of a grainy sweetness, not sugar. I could drink this all night and be happy.

Sampled this one early out of the cask, without fully maturing. I enjoyed the concept more than the actual drink. I found it weak and a little thin bodied. Decent brew but needs much, MUCH more hopping! (But then it woldn’t be a mild now would it?)
