BuckNaked (1195), Tempe, Arizona, USA Oct 8, 2004 2004 draught at brewery. Light to light-medium bodied, not too bitter, this is a very easygoing beer. There was a lack of a clear aroma, though I did note some mild hops, caramel, and some buttery or almost biscuit notes. The taste is actually very nice, though just a bit mild. It’s very dry, has some good malts that give it some sweet and toasted notes, and enough hops to just barely balance things out. I’d love to taste this beer with all the flavors just a bit more pronounced. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Oct 4, 2004 2004 draught. The fact that Empire, and now Flour City (the new Empire) insist on serving their beer ice cold, REALY pisses me off. This one tastes dry, lightly skunked and sour, with metal notes, overly astringent and acidic notes from the toasted malt. Did not come together well at all. Like marmalade on a overly toasted English muffin. Gotta be in the mood I guess. Aroma is severly lacking. Appearance is a light "ruddy" red with a small off-white head. tupalev (2311), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 20, 2004 Buffalo Brewfest 04. Amber pour. Some hops and caramel in aroma. Big white head. Crisp mouthfeel, a tad thin, but not too distracting. Lots of malt in taste - sweet, but balanced. There’s no overwhelming reason to rave about this beer, but I found myself wanting to try more - very drinkable and in terms of "Amber Ale", this is very solid. rudolf (1570), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 19, 2004 Sweetish aroma, slightly corny, hoppy, buttery. Flavor is vaguely citrus, malty and a bit of sourness. Orangey malt finish lingers at the back of the tounge Sammy (3141), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2004 Balanced though malty, with suffiient hoppiness to keep it popular. perhaps multiple malts. Average around, nothing exceptional but finishable.
