COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Only 31 gallons exist. "Train Wreck" and "Aurora Frisbee" were two other possible names, because that is very likely what will happen after a couple glasses. If you’re not a fan of overly scotchy/bourbony/woody beers, you’ll probably hate this one. That’s OK. You’ll make lot of other people happy, as there is very little of it to go around.

Cab Ride is an exercise in East-meets-West. The base beer, fighting out of the American corner, is Kentucky Überwine with its American Oak & Bookers Bourbon. And in the European corner, wearing a Speedo, comes some Laphroaig 10 Year Single Malt Scotch aged on French Oak. This fight is fixed. It is not a fair one. An entire bottle of Laphroaig was soaked into the French Oak, all of which went into a mere four pony kegs of Überwine. Scotch wins by TKO (and major fortification)! Sure there was plenty of bourbon in the base beer, but let’s just say you no longer need to order a shot with your Cab Ride. It comes with one built in.

Who knows what the strength is now? Not 10.5% anymore, that’s for sure. No one, not even Brew Master Tony, has had this yet. Will it melt your fillings? Will a goblet of it make you think you’re pretty good lookin’ after all? Is it a whiskey-wood-aged masterpiece?
Cab Ride is roughly 11.5%
The base beer (Kentucky Uberwine is 10.5%).
25.4oz of 80 proof (40%) scotch was added via soaked oak chips, thus fortifying the 2 kegs (31 gallons) worth.

Made exclusively for Über Tavern by Tony Savoy at Flyers Brewery in Oak Harbor, WA.

Mason shared by Kan! Poured a hazy deep amber with amber with minimal head. Aroma had a smoke note with underlying sweet grain and caramel. The smoke was more refined on the tongue accompanied by oak and sweet grains and the smoke grows towards the finish.

mason sample from a recent trade.... poured a murky mostly caramel brown with a non-existent head.... aroma of softer red wine tannins followed up by more of a prominent smoky malt spect paired with some burnt wood. def get some scotch in the nose.... flavors were very similar with emphasis on smoked malt, whiskey, and just a fair bit of sweetness and barrel influence that adds some nuance. little to soft carbonation and medium bodied, wet wood compliments. a fresh sample could prove to be pretty nice as i pretty much enjoyed this regardless.

12 oz pout at Uber, Seattle, WA. Poured into a tulip glass. Dark, deep honey golden color in the pour with a frothy tan head much like the color of a lightly burnt meringue frosting. The nose is literally amazing, with a sweet bourbon start, peach, vanilla, oak, peat, smoke, and toffee. The taste is a nice balance of sweet malt, bourbon, vanilla, and burnt wood, transitioning into toffee, caramel, and an absolutely amazingly smooth scotch taste. The palate is creamy, medi bodied, and did I say creamy?!? This is the best BW I’ve ever had. I can’t wait until the next time they have it. P.S. I had the LAST of the barrel before it blew for the next customer! Thank you God!

draft at uber. have you ever had smoked peaches, tony? have you ever been thrown down and kicked in the tongue with a velvet boot? no, of course you havent. ignore the question. the man is on to something here. pours a cloudy but certainly refractive dark brown with burnt honey sparkles at the edges. dense creamy tan granache of a head, unfortunately doesnt stick around as long as it might. trippy nose of peachy bourbon, vanilla, caramel, shortbread, and sweet campfire. this smells ten times awesomer in real life than it might in the browser. creamy thick body, soft carb dancing. dense sharp wood right up front, almost like smoke from wood scorched by a router or power saw. caramel, toast, vanilla, peaches, and then beautiful iodine and campfire at the end. this is a crazy hybrid of a ba bw and the laws of common sense say it probably shouldnt really work, but, wow, it really works together. a big buck and not for those slow on the trigger, but quite a rack for the mantle once you bring it down. cheers, tony and carp.

Big bournony nose vanilla wood brown sugar earthy notes, peaty scotch and booze. More scotch as it warms - peat for sure. Hazy amber pour nice creamy beige head, light lace. Nice looking beer. Peaty scotch on top of light wood and bourbon sweetness. Not to much base beer, but some darker fruits, woody oak, soft bitterness. Nice and scotchy. Vanilla and wood as well. Big and scotchy but well balanced and surprisingly mellow.
