Reddish tinted amber color. Good head retention but no lacing.
NOSE- nicely malty, slightest bit of hop bitterness.
FLAVOR- surprisingly complex. Malty sweet start which seamlessly gives way to just a touch of bitterness in the finish. That slightly bitter beauty stays on my tongue for quite a while after I finish the sip.

Bottled. Hoppy aroma. The taste is musty, it’s actually a nice impression of an Irish beer but tastes like it has more alcohol than 4%.

Tap @ Schwabl’s. Copper with oatmeal head. Smells dark dry fruity and wheaty. First set, then a light hop character kicker in. a tad watery and wheaty.

Great tasting beer. It’s more of a brown ale than an Irish red. It has a subtle taste of unsweetened iced tea / coffee. I was impressed by it.

I don’t know what an Irish ale even is but this is a pretty good brown or amber. It is a nice garnet color with a thin but long lived had of fine bubbles. It is a touch roasty with some nut and toffee notes. This struck me as a bit metallic or oxidized at first but that seems to wane quickly as you drink it. This is fairly light on the palate with moderate carbonation but still rather full flavored. Some dark fruity notes cine out in the finish along with a solid bit of bitterness. This is definitely one worth trying for fans of whatever style this is.

This ale poured a deep red colour with a minimal head. Scents include light hop, malt and... not too much. First swig was medium bodied with nice malt flavours and a light hop. Finish is malty with very light smoke. Very nice!

"big malty nose and flavor. not as dry as the traditional style calls for, but it is fuller bodied...a nice trade-off if you ask me. overall, the lack of hop presence made the overall impression lacking a bit, but it was an enjoyable beer."

Transfer from BA review on 4-11-12 -
Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a nice mahogany color with a white head. The head faded relatively fast to leave a persistent film on the top of the brew with some moderate lacing.
Smell – The smell was largely of roasty malt with some toffee and caramel sweetness.
Taste – The taste is very similar to what was detected in the nose. There was a roasty malt flavor up front. Some sweeter flavors of toffee and caramel develop in the middle of the taste. These sweeter flavors persist, but toward the end are again dominated by a more roasty flavor which lingers on the tongue well after the brew is gone from the mouth.
Mouthfeel – Creamier then the average beer of its strength with a lighter to moderate level of carbonation. The body feels nice on the tongue and allows the roasty tastes to really permeate the tongue.
Overall – Easy drinking and affordable. It is somewhat one-dimensional, but overall makes for a good session brew.

On tap at the Waterstone Grill, Hamburg, NY. Reddish copper in colour; fruity malt aroma; soft malty taste; with a gentle bitterness to finish. A pretty good imitation of an Irish red.
