Bottle. Pours golden orange with a thin white head. Relatively clean toasted malty profile, with lighter floral and earthy hoppy notes. Not bad.

Purchased growler directly from brewery. Seemed a bit high in etoh at first but that seemed to dissipate once the the carbonation level went down a bit. Clean, mildly malty aroma, amber color. Color a bit dark for style and I found the beer on the malty sweet side yet very drinkable and refreshing. If you like malt sweetness you'll love this beer.

Poured from a growler purchased from the brewery. Was titled simply Bisonfest at the brewery, so I can’t say for certain it’s the same beer. Clear orange brown, smells and tastes very sweet. Almost too sweet, and has a bit of an almond taste to it. Not sure why. Tasted better in the taster I had at the brewery. I’ve been liking FBBC a lot lately, but I think this one isn’t for me.

Pours a hazy, caramel color, pretty much no head. Rich and sweet and strong, but nicely balanced by the bitterness and some roasted notes. Caramel/brown sugar plus some floral hoppiness. Has a bit of that fruity/metallic tang that’s present in a lot of Belgian beers. The sharpness fades as the beer warms. A little bit of creaminess in the mouthfeel.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 rampmaster (642) - Alden, New York, USA - OCT 10, 2008
Presentation: It was served on tap at the Buffalo Central Terminal Oktoberfest.
Appearance: It had a dark brunt amber color with good clarity and a small creamy off white colored head. The head slowly faded leaving just a small ring of bubbles on top with some slick lacing that slid down the glass as I drank.
Smell: The aroma was sweet and malty with hints of caramel and a good dose of spicy/herbal hops.
Taste/Mouth feel: It has a solid malty body with pleasant roasted and caramel notes. The hop presence is solid as well and brings nice spicy and herbal notes with mellow bitterness. It has a medium to full body with a well balanced smooth finish. The texture is smooth and slightly slick with good carbonation.
Notes: This Octoberfest was very enjoyable and highly drinkable.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2007 pours clear orange-gold, thin head dissipates quickly. aroma was light sweet malt. first taste was nice clean roasted flavors. biscuit and brown sugar came though after a few. unfortunately the soapy hop found in the all together unpleasant barn stormer pale ale became noticeable. it was faint, but distracted from the otherwise nice taste and aroma profile. carbonation was somewhat fizzy as well. has good potential, and i wouldn’t turn one down, but some negative elements bring it down for me.

On tap at Colter Bay Grill. A funky Octoberfest IMO. Pours a clear copper/orange body with practically no head. Sugar aroma with some slight malt and hop scents. Very sweet caramel flavor with a thin spiced finish. Pretty average Flying Bison.
