3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, - FEB 8, 2003
On tap at the brewery in both regular and oak-aged versions Bright amber; aroma of pine, mint, liquorice, and caramel. Palate has a bark-like bitterness, caramel and earth, with a little toffee in the finish. The oak-aged version was overwhelmingly oaky in both aroma and palate, totally to the detriment of balance. The brewer figured it could do with a few weeks to mellow out and allow the flavours to become better integrated, and I have to agree. That said, they blew a cask in about half an hour when they launched it. Rating is for standard version only.

Draught at the Blue Dog in Chalfont. Clear golden-copper body with a sudsy white head. Aroma and flavor of fruit, chalky malts, weak black tea, and wood stems. Medium bitterness and some undesired sweet residual malt notes. Mild, but noticeable acidity. A remedial East Coast IPA.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 13, 2006
Dark golden ale with a thin white head. Strong diacetyl aroma, overpowers the hops. In mouth, caramelly hops with rather flat character, lingering with some nutty notes and a oily mouthfeel. Bizarre Ipa. On tap at the CNY Brewfest 2006.

An average English style IPA. Nice blend of hops, just no epiphanies here. Sampled with a back of Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GoldenSpunky (120) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 24, 2004
Very smooth IPA with a daker golden brown color. The aroma smells alittle skunky at first but then blends nicely into the flavor of the beer the more you drink. This is my first beer from flying bison brewery and I am impressed. I think IPA’s are one of the most challenging to brew and since its brewed in my hometown, Im excited to try other beers from flying bison.

Floral and citrus aroma, while being deep amber with a medium head. Smells delicious, and tastes like a cross between an English and American IPA.

Medium amber color, almost a light brown, cream color head. Bigger floral hop aroma, nice malt backbone. Flavor was little buttery, good dose of hops. Medium body, bitter finish. Nice English style IPA.

grassy, floral aroma with a hint of lemon. Clean appearance, thin whitish head. Nice earthy flavor, but nowhere near the hop level I was expecting.
