rudolf (1554), Buffalo, New York, USA May 8, 2007 Cask @ goodbar. Very dark brown, just a little light. Light tan head, nose is cocoa, malt, toffee, caramel. Flavor is toffee, ink, molasses, dark fruits, light coffee. A bit cloying. tupalev (2296), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 1, 2007 On cask at Goodbar, Buffalo. Very dark brown, small bubbly white head. Nice subtle roast and chocolate aroma. Good cask roasty taste, very sessionable. Light body, a true session cask porter without really knocking it out of the park. I liked it more than the other guys I guess, and hey, we helped the good people of Buffalo celebrate their sabres victory, so maybe it gets a point for that :) blankboy (2570), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 30, 2007 Cask at Mr. Goodbar, Buffalo, NY. Pours a very dark brown with a small diminishing tan head. Very mild aroma of lightly roasted malt with a hint of coffee. Slightly watery flavour of lightly roasted malt, some caramel and hints of chocolate and coffee. Body’s pretty thin. Disappointing, this needs more taste and character, as it is it’s just O.K. HogTownHarry (3200), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Apr 29, 2007 Cask. At Goodbar in Buffalo NY. NOT their Imperial Porter, this is a new beer, recently launched. Poured typical dark brown, small cask off-white head. Mild aroma, sweet light chocolate malt, a hint of cola syrup, very mild floral hops. The taste ... pretty weak, really, tries to be roasty, and mostly succeeds, but I kept getting watered-down syrup - on cask it was certainly easy to drink, perhaps too much so, no real finish to it. Very weak body, mild astringency which faded instantly, fairly still - drinkable, but I was frankly disappointed.
