CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 19, 2007 12oz bottle: Pours a thick dark mahogany with a thin wispy dark tan head. Big sweet dark caramel and bourbon oaky nose has nice complexity. Body starts full, rich and dark malty sweet with a good balance of oaky bourbon and mild warmth toward the sweet finish. Has tasty brown sugary and woody complexity throughout. hopscotch (4390), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Nov 21, 2007 Bottle… This beer rocks!… Cloudy, dark, caramel-colored ale with no head. Woody nose with notes of caramel, sourmash and dried plum. Oaken, sweet flavor with very mild acidity and low bitterness. Alcoholic. Nice and warming. Full-bodied and oily with mild carbonation. Caramel and dark fruit finish. Kudos to kp for providing the bottle! Ernest (4186), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 6, 2007 Draught. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), with notes of raw wood, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, hint of apple. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Rather harsh in the aroma, and pretty sweet, but nice mouthfeel. goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 26, 2007 Poured a verydark amber-ruby color with an off-white head. Whiskey and dark fruits rest on top of sweet malt. Great balance. Fruity sweet malt. Very smooth and nice warmth. Full body.
