Svesse (5848) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JAN 19, 2014
(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Gamla Stan, Stockholm, 10 Jan 2014) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with tropical fruit, candy sugar and honey. Fruity, malty taste with notes of canned fruit, honey, candy sugar and a balanced grassy bitterness in a finish with some alcohol shining through. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. A bit one-dimensional, but quite tasty. Nice one.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, London. A golden coloured pour with a small white head on top. Sweet, bready, malty, yeasty aroma. Tastes similar, sweet, bready, malty, spice. Pleasant Belgian style beer.

On tap at Bishops Arms in Örebro. Mild and fruity smell with a light yeasty note. Similar taste, some green apples and light notes of almond paste. Nice but a bit one-sided.

I think this was a little better than the rating suggests. Good alcohol and belgian yeast strain. Hopping was high and nice.

Beese (1099) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 9, 2014
Draft from BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush opening night on 29 November 2013. Poured a clear golden colour with a scummy white head. Aroma of peaches, burnt sugar and biscuity malt. Cooked fruit in the initial flavour with notes of toasted malt and golden syrup. Finish was honey, chewy malt and spruce hops. Not all that Belgian-like, but very nice, nonetheless.

Aroma: Aroma is yeasty with a little spice and some fruit/apple
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a sheeting white head
Flavor: Taste-wise, this one is on the sweet side, a little yeasty spice, and some light bread
Palate: The body is fairly light for the style, with a plus carbonation, and an unexciting finish
Overall Impression: This one isn’t a favorite for me. The flavors just aren’t that well developed, and nothing properly balances the sweetness. It’s decent, and it has some good components, but it isn’t a winner.

Keg at Brewdog Shepard’s Bush opening night. Aroma is belgian pale malt and herbal Hoo with a touch of honey. Golden colour pour with a touch of haze and thin persistent white head. Flavour is clean sweet honey malt and herbal. Belgian yeast is subdued. Slightly worty and under attenuated for a belgian. Fine medium carbonation.

Euston Tap. Keg. Hazy gold beer with a small white head. Palate starts smooth but turns minerally crisp. Sweet creamy malt and sweet floralness. Well integrated candy sweets, mildly sherbet. Touch of parma violets and a whisper of spice. Finishes smooth. A pretty sweet but tasty Belgian.

Bomber into Trappist glass, very hazy dark’ish golden color with bright white head. Aroma of bready malt, candy sweetness, spices, semi-fruity and some citrus. Taste starts out pretty bready, then notes of pear, green apple, melon, coriander, pepper, pineapple, apricot with some citrus hop bite. Light body, moderate carbonation, dry, clean with a sweet yeasty finish. Kind of a fruity sweet leaning Belgian, the Belgian spicy notes were faint. Decent.
