Brewed exclusively for the 2013 Craft Brewers Conference (and a collaborative project with Reyes Beverage Group), Bloodline is an intensely-hopped IPA brewed with Blood Orange peel and juice.

According to our Brewmaster Matt Brophy, the result is a flavor profile that harnessed the best aspects of both the hops (Warrior, Citra, and Galaxy) and the citrus. He and his brewing team are very fond of hop-based citrus aromas, so experimenting with actual citrus was a natural extension of that.

2014 version is brewed with Northern Brewer, Citra and Galaxy.

12oz bottle into pint glass. Pour is light copper color with a thick off- white head. Citrus and floral dominates the nose. Taste is sweet and has a medium hop bitterness. Well balanced. Warrior hops pop out at me much like with DFH60. This is goooood.

On tap in Baltimore. No head with a watery mouth feel. Thereís so much citrus here Iím not sure why they bothered to make it an IPA. Seems a waste of hops. Still a tasty beer worth trying for something different.

Brilliant all around beer. Pours a red-tinged straw with tight head. Nose is BIG citrus hops with noticeable layering and dimension. Medium to high effervescence with lots of body. High hop bitterness balanced with great malts with the addition of blood orange adding a more robust sweetening than one might have to in an all-malt balance. Finished hop heavy, but I'm cool with that. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Amber bodied with a short white head. Aroma is extremely floral with abundant citrus and tropical fruit notes. Mouth watering! Taste is big tropical fruit notes, floral hops, citrus oils, pine notes and caramel. Body is medium-full with a moderate bubbly carbonation. Mild resinous notes throughout as well. Ends with more tropical fruit, floral hops, citrus notes, caramel, sweet malt and hop resins. Damn tasty!

Bottle, thanks Russ! Citrusy hop aroma with notes of blood orange flavor. Pours copper colored with a big white head that fades quickly and not much lacing. Starts with nice blood orange and other citrus flavor. Finishes with a bit of hop bitterness with the citrus acidity sticking to the palate after the sip. Nice, light refreshing take on a pale ale.

Taste from a 32oz growler, thanks to beerpig317. Filled 3 weeks ago, opened the day prior, according to him. Half hazy orange amber color. Minimal bubbly head. A little light on the carbonation, but not completely so. What do you expect for the condition? Drinking alright, really. Medium plus body. Light carbonation. Kinda nice, dry finish. Smooth, easy-drinking. Good zest, lime, west-coast citrus, orange hints of raspberry. Moderate plus bitter taste, light to moderate sweet taste. More dry in the finish. Nice, tasty stuff! Probably even better fresh..

Bottle. Orange pour with white head. Some orange aromas, spice and bitter tones. Sort of orange, citrus and grassy flavors.

Serving: on draft and in the bottle. I prefer the draft (brighter, fresher, more orange notes) so thatís the one I will review. Nice light copper pour with a lasting white head. Bright citrus notes in the nose. A light blood orange sweetness on the tongue gets paired with a bit of pale malt and plenty of bitter, citrusy hops. Medium bodied with a medium finish. Very refreshing. That being said, some of the bottle examples Iíve had are less than stellar. Tread carefully.

Clear golden pour with good white head. Nose is great citrus floral bouquet. Flavor is similar with hints of blood orange and wonderful sweet citrus hops. Slight medicinal hop bite on the finish. Really enjoyable fruity ipa
