COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed exclusively for the 2013 Craft Brewers Conference (and a collaborative project with Reyes Beverage Group), Bloodline is an intensely-hopped IPA brewed with Blood Orange peel and juice.

According to our Brewmaster Matt Brophy, the result is a flavor profile that harnessed the best aspects of both the hops (Warrior, Citra, and Galaxy) and the citrus. He and his brewing team are very fond of hop-based citrus aromas, so experimenting with actual citrus was a natural extension of that.

2014 version is brewed with Northern Brewer, Citra and Galaxy.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear bright orange color with lasting white head and moderate lacing. Aroma is blood oranges and tangerine zest. Flavor is slightly oxidized IPA with tangerine sweetness in the finish. Iíd love to try this fresh, Iím guessing this may have some age on it.

Beer shared by RussianDragon. Very nice! The beer is transparent and light orange with a bubbly, pure white head. The aroma brings heavy pine, perfume, furniture polish. Not nearly as bad as I may have made it sound. Hop forward with a mild sweetness. Indeed, the blood orange character is center stage and present throughout. Sweet citrus and alcohol with a touch of pine. Pretty good in small quantities.

Color is orange amber with a nice foam that laces well. Orange and grapefruit is present in aroma and taste. Bitter hop presence leaves and dry finish

Bottle. Pours a clear, light orange with about a half finger of head. Aroma is oranges and caramel malt. Taste is bitter citrus with some subtle malt sweetness and a very dry finish. This was an interesting concept but the beer is rather bland. Nothing really stands out and it seems more like a pale ale than a IPA to me.

Drank from the bottle. Nose is heavy on the orange with a nice hop presence. Tastes of resin, orange peel, pine, and more citrus. Medium bodied heavy carbonated beer. Very good beer.

Appearance: clear medium peach, with light orange highlights and half a finger of soapy, fizzy white head with a decent amount of cling. Aroma: big nose of orange, with some sweet caramel malts and even a hint of vanilla--almost like a creamsicle; thereís some grapefruit and floral hops too. Taste: bitter and slightly acidic up front, with strong notes of blood orange, orange peel, grapefruit, kafir lime; under this is a light graham cracker caramel malt. Finish: medium length, decently bitter, with lingering taste of orange blossom punch. Notes: The most orangey of the orange-inspired beers Iíve ever had. Palate was pretty prickly, which added to the initial acidity. As it warmed, it got slightly sweeter, more malty, and developed a better balance. There was a surprising alcoholic boozy heat which detracted slightly from the palate.

I have no complaints about this beer. Smooth, tasty, and refreshing. I want to highlight the "refreshing" part... I moved to Baltimore two weeks ago and this has been my beer of choice ever since. After a long day of work, this is incredible. You can really taste the blood orange, yet it still has that nice sharp IPA bite... and buzz :) I highly recommend you try this beer. It has become a staple beer of my apartment, I will always be a loyal customer. I first tried it in a bottle, which has a strong citrusy flavor and sometimes an aftertaste of strong alcohol (like Vodaka). When I tried it on tap (at Maxís Tap House at Fellís Point in southern Baltimore) it tasted completely different; it was much sweeter and I was craving the citrus and bitterness of the bottle. Therefore, I recommend tasting this in the bottle.

From a bottle. Pours clear gold with a fizzy white head. Smells like sweet, tasty oranges, light hops, caramel, and alcohol. Tastes like sweet caramel hops with orange and grapefruit. Light body and low/medium carbonation.

Draft at festival. A well balanced beer that is not subtle with the orange -- lots of orange zest flavors but they come across well.
