2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 craig220 (289) - Crofton, Maryland, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Poured a clear amber with little to no head. Aroma is like sticking your head into an herb garden with some pepper on top (only way I can describe this). Taste is pepper, tobacco, floral, and an astringent earthiness. Very odd.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Tide (723) - Espoo, FINLAND - SEP 30, 2012
Bottle from Brewdog shop. Amber color, white head. Bitter sweet taste with citrus, herbs, hint of cinnamon and grapefruit. Quite unbalanced body. Dry bitter finish. Not bad.
1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 ColinStronge (14) - Munlochy, SCOTLAND - SEP 30, 2012
Bottle at home thanks to Lewis. Aroma is much more woody than the BD (the bay maybe?) some mint notes too. Smells a bit muddied. Little bit of orange which smells grim. Poured with obvious carbonation but very little head and what it poured with disappeared quickly. Taste is a bit soapy and synthetic like dried and spiced orange slices from a Xmas tree: meant to be smelt and looked at but not tasted! Can’t decide whether I preferred (hated less?) this one or the BD one. Probably this initially
2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 MrHangover (1102) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - SEP 29, 2012
Bottle. I’ve had this directly after the BrewDog version and this significantly different. Still an amber colored, this hasn’t got a head. Aroma is spiced, slightly sour and has hints of apples. Flavor is sour and quite harsh to drink. I didn’t like this that much..
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Benzai (4365) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2012
Sampled from bottle. Clear copper to amber color, no head. Smell malts, herbs and spices and yuk. Tastes the same. No, not my thing. Just not, definitely not. Anyone who really likes this beer can rate it properly.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 armando629 (2207) - Budapest, HUNGARY - SEP 27, 2012
0,355 l bottle, deWildeman, Amsterdam
Poured amber with a lot of sediment, small creamy offwhite head. Babér and juniper, honey and cinnamon, orange peel. Interesting flavor with honey and malt base, spicies like orange peel, rosmare, juniper. Like a gintonic with herbs. Interesting, but not an IPA.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 twindog (210) - Hampstead, Maryland, USA - SEP 24, 2012
Pours a very thin beer, with a feint head which disappears immediately. Has the look of a Cider .Orange is the word I would use to describe this beer with little sourness. Not the most pleasant to start, but grew on me.I guess this was what beer was before hops very diffrent.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheEstimator (27) - Maryland, USA - SEP 22, 2012
What’s in a name? International arms race? Are we amassing weapons or rolling over and dismantling our defenses? The obvious reference is to a total lack of hops. If you can defend your palettes shock when you find out there are NO HOPS in this beer, you might be a little twisted at first ubtil you open your mind to the possibilties. Yes, it IS possible to preserve beer without hops; use herbs instead. Think of them as a new (or old) defense system. The evidence is in the taste; herbs like rosemary and thyme prevail. The body is somewhat hollow through the middle, but the upfront taste is intriguing and the aftertaste somewhat bizarre. In any event, I applaud the effort and truly appreciate the format! Worth experiencing....do it; ignore what other naysayers say. This is a relevant beer!
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Kavu (1568) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 19, 2012
Pours clear amber with a low head. Aroma is bitter malts and herbs, perhaps some ginger and mint. Flavor is bitter malts with plenty of herbs. Slightly better than the BrewDog version. Worth a try.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 dbarnold (1073) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - SEP 17, 2012
Did not enjoy this one, tasted like a crappy herbal tea, but I had it cold, so that made it worse. Maybe i should heat it up....It’s very herbal, not bitter at all, and finishes thin and sweet. Interesting to try, but not tasty for me.
