Our Chipotle Dark Ale begins with aromas of smoke and pepper. Dark chocolate sweetness greets the palate, but is quickly overcome by smoke, spice, roast, and citrus hop notes. It finishes with a peppery spice and subtle lingering heat that builds with each sip. Specialty Malts: Chocolate, Extra Special (Caramel/Roasted Malt Hybrid), Cara-Pils. Hops: Warrior and Centennial. Specialty Ingredients: Chipotle Peppers.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2013 Draft at AKA Friscos down the road from the FD brewery. 12oz plastic cup, black with tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, some smoke and some pepper notes. Taste adds spices, some chipotle heat and some citrus/earthy hops. The spiciness works well against the roasty stout. Medium body, average carbonation, lingering smoke on the tongue. Interesting complex stout. The chipotle peppers added more background flavor then heat which worked very well.

Keg at BD Shoreditch as "Chipotle Brown Ale 10%". It pours a black colour with a small brown head. Aroma of smoke. Flavor is smoke and a strong and sharp hop bitterness at the end. Heat is there at the end and is subtle, but increases as you drink the beer with just the right amount of spice at the end. Creamy mouthfeel. Good one.

Keg at BrewDog Shoreditch - London. So I am not positive this is the proper entry; beer is written as ’Flying Dog Chipotle Brown Ale 10%’. Pours dark but clear red-brown with a moderate, creamy tan head. Sugary dark malt nose, hints of dark, piney hops. Medium to big sweet flavor, some dark bread, cocoa, faint roast, light bitterness. Medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. The pepper heat hits in the finish. It is a decent burn but not overpowering. There is a bit more light cocoa, faint burnt pine. The flavor is actually pretty wimpy given the ABV, and the palate is a bit thin. Ao so overall.

I love these beers infused with Chilis and heat. This was a nice thick stout with a chipotle backing. Very strong and not for everyone. I liked the mole stout i had from Church Breworks and this is comparative.

This one poured a medium brown with a beige head. Aroma was of light chilies, medium roast, and light green herbal hops. Flavor was a nice blend of bitterness between light chili heat, some earthy hops, and medium roast with light choclate in the back to balance it out. Nice stuff.

Tap at Rustico. Pours clear black with a large, creamy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is chipotle peppers, pine, resin, and grapefruit hops with roast malt. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting malt, dark fruity esters, spicy chipotle peppers and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap at the Knick. Mild chocolate nose, roasted and slightly burnt malt. A hint of earthy-fruity-smoky chipotle with no discernible hop presence. Dark rusty red-brown opaque with creamy light tan lacing head. Medium watery body with vigorous carbonation. Nice dry porter to start, with light carbonic bite, a hint of heat. Earthy and fruity pepper character. Chocolate and roasted malt, light hop bitterness with smooth peppery bitter after.

On tap half pint at Gilly's Craft Beer & Wine in Rockville, MD. Opaque, very dark brown with tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, hot peppers, raisins and chocolate. Taste of roasted malt, spicy chipotle peppers, chocolate and sweet dark fruit. Lots of chipotle flavor but not too much fire. The hot pepper burn comes through at the finish, after you have enjoyed the other flavors. Medium body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Rich dark color with tan head. Pleasant taste with mild spice in the end. Will have again.

Draft. Poured a pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was some light smoke notes, a touch roasted pepper, dark malts. Flavor was mostly roasted malts, but there was a touch of smoke and then a lasting note of subtle spices throughout the beer. I really like spicy things, so it could have probably amped it up just a touch to bring out more peppery notes, but it was still pretty enjoyable.

Tap - pours dark black-brown, decent fluffy tan head. Sharp aromas of tangy dark malts, roasted chilis, and dark chocolate. Definite pepper. Taste is more roasted goodness, coffee, bitter, with a hot roasted chipotle finish. Long and strong brother. Good deal.
