UPDATED: DEC 11, 2005 bottle - This is a nice pale ale, and is on the high end of the bitterness scale for the style. It has a somewhat malty aroma, but the taste and aftertaste is dominated by the hops. This brew is a pretty good choice, though certainly not the best of what’s probably my favorite style, the pale ale.

Tap. Slight hops on the nose with a faded amber colour. Not much difference in flavor with the Flying Dog IPA actually. A much better pale ale than the IPA, but still nothing overwhelming.

Deep amber color, nicely lasting creamy/rocky off-white head, leaves a nice lace. Mild resiny hop aroma, caramelly hints and a bit of pepper. Smooth tasting malty brew with a slightly bitter finish.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2008 [bottle - 12 oz] Clear orange. No head. Some lacing though. The description says it’s supposed to have lots of hops, but the aroma doesn’t really have much to it. Some sweet malts, and it took me a minute to find any of the hops. The taste on the other hand has a nice hop flavor to it. Lots of hops up front with a slightly sweet taste following it and then a crisp and slightly dry hoppy finish. The aftertaste is a cross between hops and citrus.

Just wasn’t impressed with this one. It didn’t suck but nothing stood out. The citrus/pine combo was so not there. Hops were pretty lame as well. It WAS pretty drinkable. Mine was gone in like 5 minutes because I kept taking a mouthfull hoping for something that stood out. Nothing did. Rather boring.

12 oz. bottle. Amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. Caramel and pine aroma with citrus and brown sugar notes. Cereal malt flavours with a nutty, citrus, and lightly perfumed bitter finish. Medium bodied with a dry finish.

a nice hoppy aroma, pretty good hops for a pale ale, has a nice aftertaste a bit dry. fairly smooth and drinkable, pretty decent stuff.

Bottle. Strong peach malt and hops aroma. Orange-red-brown color with small head. Slightly sweet peach malt flavor with strong hops finish - not too overpowering. Nice flavor with nice bitterness.

Decent pa. Smooth, a bit bigger and it would be on par with snpa. nice hop and malt backbone that keeps you interested.

A great pale ale. Crisp, clean, good hop character and finish. Light/medium bodied.
