Beer #4 at Spiesy’s. Substantial yeasty hop aroma. Again, like the other Flying Dog beers we tried, the flavour falls away a bit, but isn’t unpleasant. Sweetish, with not enough malt, or hop, presence to create major interest. A decent, if uninspiring, effort. Bottle.

Bottle @ Spiesy’s gaff. At least - a half decent beer! Fruity American Pale Ale aroma - lychee, Sierra Nevada, nice. The flavour is surprisingly muted and murky after the delights and promise of the aroma. Some dull hop bite. Sad.

Dry, Hoppy beer. I smell lemongrass, very crisp, short bitter aftertaste, hops and wheat taste, slightly oily mouthfeel. A good but unremarkable pale... I prefer Sierra Nevada.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2005 This is a nice "classic" Pale ale. A bit like the Sierra Nevada version because it contains a nice balance between the important ingredients. Ridiculous label and name. A bit thinner though. Nuts are present in the flavour.

a really smooth pale ale, not too light, but light enough not to offend newbies to the style. Had a crisp hopp aroma with a faint malt presance. Flavor was primarily hops. Needs a head with retention, head almost disappered while i poured it.

A decent pale ale, light and hoppy. Goes down smooth, and pleasant. Decent session beer.

My first Flying Dog. Not really what I expected out of an APA. Reddish amber color with a decent off white head. Not really a strong hoppy aroma. A little citrus. Pretty good malty flavor. The hops there weren’t really great either. good beer.

Dark amber. Crisp and clear. Lasting caramel skiff and light lacing. Strong, but not overpowing, grapefruit aroma mixed with light caramel and interesting fruit scents. Above average for the style. There are some complex but unidentifiable flavours that mix with the defining hops. Finish is fruity but drops off quickly leaving a lingering hop taste.

Tap @ Flying Saucer - Lot of hops in this one. Although not my favorite style, it didn’t go to waste. Found it drinkable and not too bitter. Very impressive amber appearance and head, not what I expected a pale to look like. The added spiciness really helped the finish.

Amber Coloring. Smells of Hops. Tastes of hops...sweet. Not a bad Pale Ale.
