Pours a bright copper with a frothy off-white head. Very sticky lacing and a head that has some staying power. Brown sugar and pine nose, kinda funky, but decent with nuances of grapefruit. Flavor is somewhat enjoyable but it seems to be lacking. Fairly enjoyable. Mild hoppiness, with a touch of metal. Hops are prevalent up front and linger mildly throughout. Lemon pith, grassy and floral notes. Some sweetness but overall not much in the way of maltiness. Certainly a reason for low ABV. Middle of the road.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma if malts, caramel, hops and citrus.

Appearance:
Clear amber/orange beer with a small/medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts and caramel; ends slightly bitter with hops and citrus.

Overall:
A decent pale ale with a good hop aroma and flavour. The art of the flying dog beers always amaze me and I would give the appearance a four if I would take the bottle into account.

Originally rated on 7/23/08. No. 3 out of the sampler pack, Pours a deep copper body, medium carbonation, with a rather thin cap. Decent aroma a little like ’juicy fruit’ bubble gum. Flavor carried the fruit hints, with some caramel malts as well, slight hop bite as well. Overall it is a fairly decent beer.

Aroma is earthy and has dough in it. Cloudy and dark golden color. Very minimal head. Not very hoppy. Average carbonation. Finish is longish but not very bitter. Overall not bad but would need a bit more edge. Quite refreshing drink after a hot sauna.
