COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dry Hopped with a load of Cascade hops grown in the Pacific Northwest. Doggie Style has enough hop character to satisfy hop-heads, but isn’t overpoweringly hoppy. It’s brilliant amber-copper color and pleasant malt flavor comes from the addition of Carastan malts.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden amber with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet fruity bready caramel malts.

The flavor is sweet bready malts with some fruits and decent bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery with good carbonation.

Overall, a decent but uninspiring pale ale.

Bottle. Pours a copper gold with no head (suspicious). Weak citrus, light floral, mild bitterness, watery body. Overall surprisingly poor; needs bolder flavor.

Draft. Light pale ale without alot of strong character. I will seek out to try again as this may have been lost by comparison to stronger hoppy brews.

Bottle. Looks and smells nice. Tastes blah. Very boring, floral, mild hops noticed. Bland and middle of the road, there are so many better alternatives. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

@ Brewberry, Paris. Amber colour, white head, a bit opalescent liquid. Malty, cookie-like, a bit roasty aroma. Taste of malt, a bit watery and bread-like with caramel. Sweetness comes forth as we get to the finish.

Poured into glass, thin half finger head, amber in color, very little lacing. Aroma is all malts, some sweetness. Taste follows the nose, very malty hardly any hop profile. Drinks smooth, not awful, very easy drinking but I want more hops in my beer.

Bottle. Hazy rich amber colour, with a steady off-white head. Nose is hoppy and malty. I smell toffee, grapefruit, lemon, apricot. In the mouth, more fruity bitterness - grapefruits again, zestiness, a good steady malt backbone tempering it down. There’s a spiceyness to it all. Body has bite without feeling heavy. Definitely a Pale, rather than an Indian and it’s really nice and drinkable with a decent hoppy tasty finish. Well on it’s way to being perfect this one. I could drink it for hours and hours or until I fall over.

Clear amber pour. Small head and minimal lacing. Some malt and citrus in nose. Wheat and grass notes. Taste has some spice, caramel/honey, and hops. Has some bitterness to it but generally cancelled out by the hops, yet the beer is neither hoppy or bitter. Generally spicy more than anything. Creamy and light body. Interesting PA.

March 2008: from BA. My first ever beer from Colorado, let alone Flying Dog. Don’t ask how much I paid for it, I’ll only start crying again. Brown 12 Fl Oz bottle, drank a few days before it was out of date. My bottle claimed only 4.7% ABV, have they lowered the brews strenght? I poured it into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass. Looked good, ruddy brown redish colour with a light biege head. The beer wasn’t clear, nor was it cloudly, a kind of misty hue to it. Loads of very small bubbles rise through the beer to stock up the head, which shrinks slowly towards the liquid below it. Hops and more hops at first, then a sweeter, toffee, caramel and malty aroma arrived. Then as the beer warmed sour fruits turned up within the smell. The taste was dry and hoppy as I expected. The flavours stay for a while in the mouth, but there is just a little to much carbonisation for me, it is almost fizzy and I am sure after a couple a headache would appear. Can’t say I loved it, but as a taster for my other 8 Colorado beers, not bad.

(on tap) Clear copper coloured with good white head. Lovely floral hop aroma with citrus hints. Light body and medium carbonation. Flavour is excellent - hop driven without being overly bitter. Overall and excellent beer.

Clear amber beer. Neutral palate. Good grapefruit hops with crisp malt. Not too bitter or dry. Great flavour for it’s abv.
