COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogtoberfest is a unique beer containing five premium malts. This lager draws its influence from the Vienna Marzen or Oktoberfest style. It is rich and malty with a sweet aroma and deep mahogany color.

Flyind Dog should stick to the American styles they are so great at. This German style beer is not their specialty, it’s a bit boring.

355ml bottle at home. Pours clear mid-amber with a big white head. Lots of caramel aromas, some dried fruit. Taste has more caramel sweetness then a hint of hop bitterness. Creamy texture, slightly sticky finish. Nice.

Copper colour. Aroma has some sweet caramel and malt. Flavour has a strong malty presence, a bit toasted. Sweet caramel finish with just a touch of bitter dryness coming in late in the aftertaste. I find this too sweet be a sessionable drink.

Bottle bought at The Bear and Billet, Chester. Pours an amber brown colour, with a one finger frothy head. Metallic, malt and caramel on the nose, much of the same in the taste. Good, but not the best from this brewery.

Bottle. Best by date on the side: 01/22/14. Mine says 5.6% ABV. A clear copper pour with a thick and creamy antique white head. Caramel, toffee, and a toasty cereal graininess dominate the aroma. Thin to medium-bodied on the way down. Toffee and caramel start things off taste-wise. Lightly toasted sweet cereal grains round things out. The slightest hint of citrus at the end. A tad biscuity and vegetal throughout. Great for the style.

Keg at Bierhaus Cork. Pours a very dark copper colour with a thin white head. Big and heavy aroma of toffee, light molasses and rich biscuit. The taste is a heavy boozy sweetness: very toffeeish and very malty. Unbalanced but quite great nonetheless. Nice sweet finish, lively and medium mouthfeel. Probably the best Oktoberfest I’ve tried, especially for a style I don’t hugely like.
