| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours reddish brown in color. What little head there is that forms on the pour is gone by the time I sit down. Smell is malty and somewhat floral. Taste is more of the caramel malt, but I’m also getting a sweet, brown sugar flavor as well. Not bad. Decent mouthfeel that is very easy drinking and smooth. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours a golden amber color with an off-white frothy head that lingers nicely. Aroma is very sweet and sugary caramel. There is, however a nice hop backbone that has a fairly strong presence. Flavor is even stronger caramel sweetness that just screams Octoberfest. The hops are a bit less apparent but still provide a nice character that holds up the bitterness in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Good Octoberfest all around. hamsterglory (48), Bryan, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 19, 2008 pouring this beer into a glass smells like pulling fresh bread out of the oven. slap a slab of butter on this puppy - malts and grains and gritty earth dust up the nose, screaming for flour crested aprons over greenly spankin’ lederhosen. the in-glass lights reflects stronger hues of deep red, crisper than a typically bright marzen orange. a slight rush of malts pushes to the front of the flavor, swirled by even slighter hints of caramel and maple, but all washes away too quickly with an out-of-place hoppy finish. no, sir: don’t wash these malts away. i want to taste everything i smelled at the front of this beer. although a weak offering to the style, i consider this one of flying dog’s better beers. adrian910ss (1445), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of malty tones with hints of grains. Taste of light malty grains with hints of toffee. keepersj12 (825), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2008 A little bit better than average for the style. Nice malt sweetness and a smooth finish. Earthy aroma and a dark amber color. HighlanderOne (547), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Poured from bottle. Faint malt aroma. Looks like typical oktoberfest, minimal lacing. I like the flavor - burnt caramel, a touch of spice maybe. Carbonation works well on the palate. Creamy at finish. A good one. HonkeyBra (1404), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Pours amber with some head. Aroma has some toffee, caramel, and maple syrup notes, touches of hay and metal. Sweet malt and honey taste with lime seltzer finish. Not all that great. Goblincat (360), Westland, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 10, 2008 Pours a clear deep red. The aroma has some malt, but really not much else. The taste is lightly bitter, lightly sweet, and has a touch of hops, but nothing to write home about. It’s just OK.
