Double Dog Double Pale Ale Back by popular demand, our original "Wild Dog Release" is back, and this time it’s for good. Double Dog Double Pale Ale is a generously hopped ale with a deep red color and pours with a nice frothy head. The abundance of hops will conjure some provocative aromas with hints of raisins and citrus.

appearance: ruby red with minimal head and almost no bubbles. aroma: strong hoppy taste: very hoppy as expected; with an interesting finish....not too bitter, fairly smooth for the style and a tad sweet syrupy combined with the massive hops palate: carbonation average; medium body; overall-- excellent IPA. will be coming back to this one again.

11.5%ABV. Double IPA. Poured out of the bottle a cloudy deep amber. 18ºSRM. Nose is alcholic. There are prominent roasted sweet malt aromas. There is a vestigial citrusy aroma to the nose. Not enough so you’d notice poured out of the bottle. All I’m really getting out of the bottle, the cap and the cup is a straight note sweetness, like fresh boiled barley (local version) or cotton candy. You get some more orange peel when you let it breathe a little more...I dunno.... Wierdly, I’m also getting some wok-fried flat rice noodle like a pad see ewe or the local char kway teow. Mouthfeel is heavy, thickly soapy and almost syrupy. Definitely alcoholic. Nice deeply roasted flavors that have toffee, some caramel, graham cracker and deeply browned multigrain toast. There is an almost pronounced flavor of deeply-browned rye toast. The finish is alcoholic, bitter and medium-long with a medium hyssop palate. The flavor profile is a little rough, and reminds me of another double IPA, a Norwegian, Nøgne, the Two Captains. Almost identical color, flavor profile and taste curve. A little ragged, but you know it is a well-resourced ale, meaning the brewers poured malt and hops into this baby and damned the accountants. I want to put this on the list so bad, but I have to be fair to everybody else on that list. It’s a very well brewed, nicely resourced brew, but in the end falls short a little in terms of the balance and how the flavor experience unfolded for me. Sorry, Flying Dog, I love you, but you won’t be going on the list yet

Double Dog certainly speaks to the East Coast Imperial IPA style. Or is it American Strong Ale? Double Pale Ale? Ah, whatever. East Coast style hoppy ale. The pour is orange-red with off-white foam. Double Dog smells dank and imposingly herbaceous, yet the flavor reveals caramel, dark fruit, and berry along with the usual suspects of citrus n’ pine. As always with Flying Dog, the Gonzo artwork is just as cool as the beer inside. And who would guess this beer contains 11.5% ABV? I wouldn’t.

(Thanks, Gene! "Travlr") Bottle. A- Caramel, biscuits, slightly sweet. A- Copper color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Caramel, bready, bitter. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly sweet finish. O- Lots of caramel and sweet bread here. Not as bitter as you envision it to be. The raisin addition while subtle is nice.

A hazy amber beer with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet hoppy - like sticking your head into a hop plant. The flavor is sweet hoppy with notes of hop acids, caramel, leading to a powerful, sweet sticky and slightly dry end.

Pours copper with a lovely fluffy head. Aroma has a huge malt backbone with a hint of rubbing alcohol and tiny citrus. A nice malty flavour with a bitter finish. Lovely.

It does not leave much foam on top, but at 11.5% it is surely like a barley wine rarely the big foams is expected. The aroma is like a whole fruit farm; plum, apricot, raisin and showed probably a little fresh figs? The taste is very complex. In the first mouthful reminded the me of a too strong mixed lemonade, but it’s an ale that just need time to orientate in all corners of the mouth and mark the territory, just as the predator who is pictured on the label. And it suits me really good, cause with its warming alcohol spreads are also a nice fresh taste of ripe fruit and citrus. It’s all very vinous with a good dose of hops that bears the taste for a very long time. The slightly sour and indefinable flavor nuance in the background. It tastes incredibly good!

Big sweet malts, and big bitter hops. Not much fruitiness from the hops, this leans more towards barley wine territory. Sweet, powerful, boozy. Really nice.
