The_Jester (465), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 24, 2007 355 mL bottle. (Great label - different from the one pictured.) Brown in colour, with a touch of orange, and a large sticky head. You can smell the American hops from 10 paces. I honestly couldn’t detect anything else. Taste begins with malty caramel sweetness, but is almost immediately overwhelmed by alcohol and floral/citrus hops. Finishes a little too bitter. My tastebuds must be worn out today, ’cause I’m not getting much else. I’ll have to come back to this one.
MiP (4937), Flensburg, Germany Aug 20, 2008 Bottle, 10.5%. Weak caramelly aroma, late pepper note. Cloudy dark orange colour. Nice stable white head. Caramelly flavour, distinct alcohol burn. Strange teaish veggy finish, but not unpleasant. The alcohol burns away most of the flavour. Very nice, but does get a bit rough after a while. fredandboboflo (442), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 17, 2008 Ooh, the 800th rating for this beer! Exciting! Anyway, bottle, vintage 2008. Aroma of citrus, floral, and mango hops, definitely hop-forward but can still sense the sweet malt lurking. Flavor opens up with really juicy sweet malt and bitterness showing up afterward, lasting into the finish, yet even then a tantilizing almost sour sweetness remains as well. Great beer, been impressed with Flying Dog lately. LilBeerDoctor (443), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle, 2008. Pours a brown/orange with a slight white head. Aroma of lots of sweet malt and citrusy hops. Flavor is quite bitter, with some sweet wheaty malt and citrusy hops at the finish. Slight acetone. Heavy palate. Good ASA, although I wouldn’t mind if the alcohol was toned down slightly. A slow sipper. dornoy (619), Lyngby, Denmark Aug 16, 2008 Long lasting head on an orange brown body. Despite its high alcohol content, there is no obvious alcohol taste and it’s an easy dring, quite refreshing too. I was pleasantly suprised by this US microbrewery beer. RaginCajun (257), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 14, 2008 Aggressive hop aroma pulls you in. Very floral. Great hop profile w/ lots of different bitterness notes; reaches every point of the palate. Nice malts as well. This is a great beer; no doubt.
