3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, USA - APR 1, 2008
Dang, this brew is bigger than I thought. Pours a clear, dark, burnt-orange amber. A foamy, off-white head leaves nice jagged lines of lacing behind. The nose shows big-time citrus and grassy hops over toasted caramel malts. It smells pretty inviting up front, unfortunately turning towards overly alcoholic on a deep inhale. The flavor is big and bold as well, with sweet caramel being balanced out by an avalanche of utterly bitter citrus and grassy hops. The alcohol is again very forward, however, lending a sort of medicinal quality to the brew. The finish is long and mouth- strippingly bitter. A thick, syrupy body is overly sticky and cloying. I can still taste this one ten minutes after finishing it. They are on the right track here, but they just took the alcohol too far.

Bottle. Dark amber with a small ring of off white head. Big resinous pine hop aroma, some caramel and a little alcohol. Similar taste, pine, caramel and alcohol. Oily with a long lingering bitterness and an alcohol warmth. Nice, not sure what separates this from a double ipa

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackIPA (326) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 16, 2012

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sigmund (3713) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2012
355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%, 85 IBU. Amber colour, moderate off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma of orange marmalade, crystal malts, loads of American hops - and some alcohol. The flavour is sweet (orange marmalade again) and alcoholic, and very hoppy throughout, with a solid bitterness. Certainly not "easy drinking" - but when you finally admit that you have to drink this beer VERY slowly, it is not that bad. Just not Flying Dog’s best.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RoodMormel (43) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAY 9, 2012
pours a nice red clear color. With a small foam collar. Has a very distinct IPA smell, very dry taste, kind of syrup/licorice like taste, very goey and has a bitter after taste. overal a nice beer! heavy alcoholic taste though.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 AdamLawsonS (26) - - MAY 5, 2012
Hazy orange/brown, thin head with a few big bubbles. Bittersweet aroma with a hint of orange and butterscotch. It is bitter to begin with but mellows out. Dry mouthfeel smooth taste but no hardcore.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bigirishphan (50) - Peoria Heights, Illinois, USA - MAY 4, 2012
Great double IPA. Pours an almost red with a fresh clean hoppy nose. The taste is grassy, citrus, and oh so wonderful hops. Didn’t linger too much but didn’t disappear. I fell in love with this and will always be close at hand for me.
