Double Dog Double Pale Ale Back by popular demand, our original "Wild Dog Release" is back, and this time it’s for good. Double Dog Double Pale Ale is a generously hopped ale with a deep red color and pours with a nice frothy head. The abundance of hops will conjure some provocative aromas with hints of raisins and citrus.

Pours crystal clear amber with a light carbonation. A few tiny bubbles rising in one thin line from the bottom of the glass. Really thick, rich, rock steady off white head. Powerful super hoppy fruity aroma. Flavor is loaded with grapefruit and pine needle hoppiness. And hang on cuz this is a strong one. The hops hides the alcohol but you need to be strong yourself to keep this dog on the leash.

Pours copper with small head. Aroma: malt, herbs, honey, white fruit. Taste: very nice herbish taste, with a touch of sweetness and a super long hoppy palate with some alcohol present. Nice aroma, a bit one-dimensional in the taste.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. Sweet caramel and cereal on the nose. The color is a pristine copper orange. The head is frothy white but fizzes out quickly. I would almost qualify this as a full bodied DIPA. The malt flavor is candy sweet and dense making it a bit boozy in result. My only problem with this one lays here since the big malt backbone seems to inhibit the hops from shining through enough. The hops show through with a slight citrus touch and finish moderately dry. Not quite meeting their potential but nonetheless this is a big bold brew that I enjoyed very much.

Bottle. Piney hop aroma with notes of citrus, caramel malt and booze. Pours clear amber colored with one finger of tan head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with sweet caramel and some biscuit malt flavors. Finishes very dry with citrus hop flavor before giving way to pine hop bitterness and a slight amount of booze on the very end. Pretty good, but a lot of booze for a double IPA.

Originally rated on 9/26/08. Let me start with the least positive thing about this beer, the lack of flavor, the only thing i can taste is the bitterness which lasts a long time, not that it is bad but considering the aroma, was a little of a let down. Getting back to the aroma it reminded me of canned fruit cocktail, a very sweet mixture of pineapple, cherry, pear ect, very nice. Appearance was a deep amber with lots of yeast floaters and a ’1’ finger light tan cap. Overall it was really good, even though the flavor wasnt as expected, i would certainly buy this again and again. So far my favorite of the flying dog beers.

Bottled. Best by 06/16/16 . pour deep honey color, white head. Aroma is booze, fig, toffee, burnt sugar, little bit of citrus, pine. American strong ale is probably more accurate than DIPA. Flavor is pine, hops, orange, booze, burnt sugar, decently bitter hop, but not astringent, finish. Actually really nice. I quite like it.

Six pack from Hot Rods. Alcohol, raisin, and some hop notes. Big ABV. Not bad but better beers than this.

Too much. This beer is great for getting drunk ... Citrusy, crazy hops and crazy malt. I like IPAs but I am not a fan of this beer. Too much ... Everything!
