3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MaltOne (144) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 18, 2012
A little out of season but here goes... Pours a clear (unless you select to include the slight amount of yeast sediment available) golden yellow, effervescent, and a substantial, cream colored head which subsides but doesn’t disappear. Aroma is faint, bread/yeast, earthy with a hint of grapefruit/citrus. Flavor is mostly malty, with a nod towards sweet and and edge of dry hops. Medium to light body, nice lingering flavors. Overall, this beer fits my general tendancies towards a maltier brew. I could easily make this a regular.

Refreshing with a long, slightly warming finish. Good choice for warm weather.

Pretty much taste like Raging Bitch... and every other flying dog brew... Nothing special, just same ol’ same ol’ Flying Dog...

Hazy dark yellow color. Lots of carbonation. Not much distinguishable on the nose, somewhat earthy. Some banana, pepperiness, and clove. Small maltiness, but this one is rather bland. Finishes dry.

Bottle. Poured a clear light orange color with a thin, off white head. Smelled of caramel, hay, and a hint of butter. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet with carbonation the lower end of the spectrum. Caramel, watered-down toffee, and subdued fleshy fruit flavors.

12oz bottle into a tulip.
Pours a hazy dark gold with a one finger white head. Tons of carbonation leads to good head retention but the lacing is pretty poor.
Aroma of yeasty spiciness with a little bit of toasted malt and a somewhat earthy note.
Flavor has some clove and pepper up front along with banana. Just a very small amount of toasted malt but it all fades away too quickly. The finish is dry but all in all, the flavors are just bland.
Overall, a nice attempt at the style but I feel that it falls short. A very refreshing beer and the champagne-like carbonation is nice but I would have preferred bolder flavors.

Great aroma w/ banana, bubblegum, herbs; hazy golden hue w/ decent off-white head; flava is decent grainy some metallic notes; makes the tongue tingle and finishes for a long time.

Less sweet than I expected from other Biere de Garde’s I’ve had. High carbonation with small champagne like bubbles. Nice summer beer. Seemed stronger than it was. Serving: Bottle

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Spice and yeast aroma. Malt and spice flavor with yeast and a light fruitiness. Medium bodied. Malt and spice lingers with yeast.

From a bottle to a duvel tulip. Pours a mostly clear golden yellow with huge white head, over carbonated maybe. It finally settles down to a 1/2 inch thick. Aroma is bread, banana, and coriander. Taste is stale bread, bananas, and sour milk. Thin mouthfeel and very high carbonation. Pretty meh.
