Allstar (30), , Virginia, USA Jul 15, 2009 Poured nice dark brown, very little head to it. First taste, slight grainy, bitter at the beginning but easy to drink. Taste of roasted coffee. Overall a good beer, that I would drink again. CamdenD (606), Madrid, Spain Jul 13, 2009 Very serviceable Baltic-style porter. Nice bitterness from the hops gives this beer drinkability. Flying Dog beers, for me at least, lack signature. If there is such a thing as a standard "imperial" porter, this might be it. Makes you miss Heavyweight. GranvilleTim (465), Granville, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2009 Dark Pour with a little reddish-brown coming through and a brown head. Nice roastd aroma with a little sweetness. Nice roasted flavor. Some sweetness/chocolate. Alcohol is noticeable. A little bitter aftertaste. Some oiliness. Nice flavorful imp. porter. Madsnp (602), Odense C, Denmark Jul 12, 2009 Draught at Christian Firtal, Odense. Pitch black with a nice two fingers thick cappuccino coloured head. Aromas of sweet malt, licorice, coffee and hops. Oily and smooth texture. Flavour roasted malt, floral hops, dark chocolate, licorice and a nice bitter finish. jujubeast6000 (768), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 11, 2009 Reviewed 6/15/2009 (bottle):
Pours a very dark colored body, with a huge, foamy, light tan color head, lasting. Malty, roasted aroma. Alcohol, strong coffee. Some alcohol too. Roasted, malty taste. Watery coffee. Some chocolate, a little dusty. Tasty. Pipper (225), Ohio, USA Jul 10, 2009 On tap into snifter at The Tremont Tap House. Pours a thin dark black with no head but a ring of cappuccino color. Soft roasted sweet coffee aroma and flavor. Smokey finish, booze is definitely present. MapleSyrup (7), Pajo, Kentucky, USA does not count Jul 10, 2009 love this beer. notes of chicory, brown sugar & coffee. dark brown pour, hoppier than I’d expected, semi-bitter aftertaste isn’t unpleasant. DJMonarch (5966), Northwich, Cheshire, England Jul 8, 2009 On Tap at the Flying Dog Brewery Tap, Denver 12/10/2007
Fruit and roast aromas. Tan head. Dark red coloured smooth and slightly rich on the palate. Some bitterness in a crisp coffee roast finish.
