| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Pours a dark brown with little-no light getting through; brown head laces. Malt upfront on the nose with hint of hops, some chocolates and oak aswell. Roasted malt and smoak up frront with chewy chocolatey coffee middle. Finishes with a nice warming brandy alcohol flavor with all flavors lingering. Medium-full body. Added points for the cool hunter thompson artwork. Let this one warm up to you! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Poured a dark dark brown black with a thin beige head. Nose was malty, with a hint of hops and alcohol. First impression was a big mouthful with a lot of bubble gum. As it warmed the malt and hops and smokey flavor were revealed, with chocolate and coffee notes. Decent depth of flavors, definitely worthy of the imperial label. mpersinger (179), , California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2009 From 7oz bottle to glass: smells like steak sauce, but takes on aroma of aged brandy after ten minutes in glass. Dense brown with an edge of beige head. Sips like fine port. Thick and creamy like mocha gelatto with some oak notes. Just enough hops to balance, and no alcohol warmth. ditmier (1053), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 15, 2009 Poured nice dark brown, very little head to it. First taste, slight grainy, bitter at the beginning but easy to drink. Taste of roasted coffee. Overall a good beer, that I would drink again. CamdenD (606), Madrid, Spain
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 13, 2009 Very serviceable Baltic-style porter. Nice bitterness from the hops gives this beer drinkability. Flying Dog beers, for me at least, lack signature. If there is such a thing as a standard "imperial" porter, this might be it. Makes you miss Heavyweight. GranvilleTim (476), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 12, 2009 Dark Pour with a little reddish-brown coming through and a brown head. Nice roastd aroma with a little sweetness. Nice roasted flavor. Some sweetness/chocolate. Alcohol is noticeable. A little bitter aftertaste. Some oiliness. Nice flavorful imp. porter.
