ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA Jun 20, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Poured a dark black with a 1/2 inch layer of off white head. Aroma was roasted malts, coffee, and light chocolate. Taste was much the same. The beer was not overly thick, and actually, just the right body for this particular brew. chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 20, 2009 Dark brown pour with small reddish head. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma, flavor of more coffee and spices. Thick but smooth finish. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Jun 14, 2009 Updated: Nov 6, 2009On draught at Rattle N Hum (NYC): Black pour, pillowy, tan head. Heavily sweetened malts flavor that’s light on hops. Roasted coffee, strong dark chocolate notes, moderate smokey feel and a bit of caramel. Modest and decent. Drinkability: A delicious, sweet porter that may lack a balance of roasted, toasted, and burnt smoke flavor (but I seriously can’t complain). Rebuy: Yes. #010 on 14062009, Rarated on 06112009, DG. Jblauvs (530), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jun 13, 2009 dark blackish brown pour, dark, thick head. slight lacing. little coffee, chocolate and roast. mm pretty nice coffee, tobacco falvors, finish is mocha. nice consistency. by far the best offering from flying dog Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Jun 12, 2009 Poured black with creamy brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Good smell. Coffee and chocolate flavors and fruit hints. Good roasty flavor finish. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Jun 12, 2009 black with a tan head. nose is roasted coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of citrus. good thickness with a coffee flavor that is a little bitter yet it smooths out as the roasted malts take over. NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Jun 11, 2009 Pours black with no head. Aroma is soy sauce, nuts and roasted malt. Taste is heavily roasted with coffee, chocolate, and nuts coming through. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. Nice hoppy bite in the finish too. Thick and full bodied with low carbonation. Good stuff. Ryan82SM (229), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 11, 2009 Aroma was surprising. More like a barleywine with mildly sweet hops and just a dab of chocolate. Dark pour, mocha head like most other porters. The flavor was lightly hoppy, with more chocolate and molasses coming through. The palate was creamy and lightly bubbly. Much better than the Road Dog, which I detested.
