Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

black with a tan head. nose is roasted coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of citrus. good thickness with a coffee flavor that is a little bitter yet it smooths out as the roasted malts take over.

Pours black with no head. Aroma is soy sauce, nuts and roasted malt. Taste is heavily roasted with coffee, chocolate, and nuts coming through. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. Nice hoppy bite in the finish too. Thick and full bodied with low carbonation. Good stuff.

Aroma was surprising. More like a barleywine with mildly sweet hops and just a dab of chocolate. Dark pour, mocha head like most other porters. The flavor was lightly hoppy, with more chocolate and molasses coming through. The palate was creamy and lightly bubbly. Much better than the Road Dog, which I detested.

Pours black with a thin brown head. Aroma smells of heavy, roasty malts, chocolate, sligt hops, and sweetness. Flavor is of roasty malt, chocolate, faint hops, some coffee, toffee, and caramel. Body is rather thick and creamy with low carbonation. Decent overall.

I was totally pumped to try this one. I had it brought back for me from Arizona. Used oil dark with a nice dark brown head. The aroma wasnt as strong as I expected. The taste was roasted cocoa, olive and cherry. It was definitely a good beer but it didn’t live up to the hype.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in Plano, TX. Pours a deep, dark brown/black with nice chocolate head. Aroma of dark roast and baking cocoa. Flavor is malty, dark roast, baking chocolate, hops. Mouthfeel is heavy body with high carbonation. Overall, a very tasty strong porter....enjoyed!
