jesperhammer (260), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 27, 2009 Really nice stout.
Dark brown with nice brown head.
Very complex aromas with coffee and chocolate (and more).
Taste is very good with more of the same.
Long aftertaste, and quite creamy.
I did not expect to much although this is really a good brewery. Very easy drinkable stout with some american taste in the form of hops, but just slightly.
Go flying dog, go! l1br4r14n (274), Washington, Washington DC, USA Mar 27, 2009 Pours black with a tan head.
(15/20) Leighton (234), New York, New York, USA Mar 21, 2009 "We were somwhere around Salisbury on the edge of Connecticut when the alcohol began to take hold."
A delicious porter here. Strong and rich, the brew is dark with a thick, creamy head. Very malty. Some coffee flavor. Nice and heavy. Mdgutows (42), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Mar 19, 2009 Pours black with a small brown head and bits of lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, sweat cream, and caramel. Taste is bittersweet and very malty. Some coffee and cocoa in there. This is well balanced and tastes like creamy coffee, caramel and toffee. Alcohol comes through as it warms The body is very creamy with a medium/light carbonation. Wow this is really smooth. A very good porter and widely distributed. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep brown/black, really nice looking brown head that was reduced to hanging around the edges for the remainder of the time. Aroma comes right at you with a subtle blend of sweetness, maybe a touch of caramel and chocolate in the background. Flavor is a nice combo of sweet and roasted malt, chocolate and again some caramel hanging in the background. Very smooth from the start through the middle, but a little hops show through on the finish. A really nice beer. amp811 (38), Charleston, South Carolina, USA Mar 18, 2009 Easily my favorite Flying Dog, this thick nectar hits the hoppy/malty balance right on the mark. You can sit there and roll the flavors around your tongue for a full minute or two before you take another sip. From the great artwork on the package to the last drop of beer you can squeeze out of the bottle, this is one fantastic brew.
