Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Bottle @ Pitchers Pub, Karlstad. Pours a black color with a nice brown head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, fudge, chocolate, toffee, coffee, fresh hops, citrus, grapefruit. Flavour is nice with notes of chocolate (more like milk chocolate), toffee, coffee, fudge, roasted malt, american hops, citrus, grapefruit. It is bitter, but not too bitter. I like it. Some liquorice too. Palate is smooth, medium carbonation, a bit creamy. Overall, a very drinkable imperial porter. Very good stuff.

Interesting dark color. Smells nicely roasted with tones of coffee. Nice hops, a lot of coffee and caramel, good balance between sweet and bitter.

Beautiful pour with a rich chocolate head. Aroma of roasted malt, hops, coffee, plumb, brown sugar. Bitter predominates, but lets plenty of other complexity through. Coffee and caramel are the major notes. Smooth feel and very drinkable. Hunter Thompson is the man. They launched his ashes into space, and that is awesome.

12oz bottle. Pours black with creamy tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, molasses, chocolate, dark fruits, and a little coffee and booze. Flavor roasted and sweet malt, chocolate, molasses, and finishes with bitter coffee and a bit of alcohol warmth. Mouthfeel is creamy yet well carbonated for a porter. Very nice imperial porter.

15 Nov 2008: Black, with lots of creamy brown foam. Aroma: Roasted malt. Very carbonized palate. Very intensive sweet malt with coffe/chockolate. Very bitter, IBU 85, but does not really taste very bitter. Nice label.

Shared with Pyrozoid. Pitch black poor with a frothy brown head. Aromas of cedar, chocolate, molasses, roastes hazlenuts, sea salt, dates. Salty, creamy, lactose with a good bitter profile and ok sweetness. Heavy body with slight carbonation. Added flavors of toffee, coffee and a hint of mint. Complexe aromas and flavors... yet for some reason it was lacking a little je ne sais quoi in regards to mouthfeel.

Bouteille de 33 cl. Deguste avec french tickler. Une biere de couleur noir avec un mince collet brun moyennement collant. Odeur de cedre, chocolat, epinette. Gout un peu chocolate, fudge, cafe il semble manquer quelque chose.
