Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

poured motor oil black...nice 2 finger head that dissipated pretty quick. Smells wonderful of the roasted malts. Can taste the hops - not bitter at all. Taste of dark malt and really picking up a chocolate, coffee flavor. finish a bit stout due to the alcohol bite, but is by no means overwhelming. Wonderfully flavorful beer and one that i will definitely have to get again.

Poured a deep black color with a small brown head that dissapated quickly. Aroma of chocolate, black coffee, and roasted malts. The taste was a lot of roasted malts with chocolate hints. The bitter taste lingered in the back of my mouth for a while, you get a little of the alcohol flavor at the end. It was very pleasant. Much better than expected.

12oz bottle, 2008 release. Beautiful black pour with a huge tan head. Faint aroma of roasted malts and hops. Subtle flavors of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee with a nice bitter hop background. Balanced and drinkable.

Dec. 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle Pours a deep brown/black color with a light hazelnut/umber head that disappears rather quickly. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, licorice, and a hint of hops. Flavor is well balanced with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Well balanced and worthy of the Hunter S. Thompson tribute.

12 oz bottle. Pours a thick black/brown color with a thick tan frothy head that has very nice retention and lacing. Aroma is heavy chocolate, fudge, and a touch of roast. Very nice! Flavor is nice and chocolaty with some roasted malt characters. WOW! Just wonderful! This beer is too easy to drink. I could get into BIG trouble with this, especially as its 9+%. Very easy to drink. Total winner!

Bottle @ Pitchers Pub, Karlstad. Pours a black color with a nice brown head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, fudge, chocolate, toffee, coffee, fresh hops, citrus, grapefruit. Flavour is nice with notes of chocolate (more like milk chocolate), toffee, coffee, fudge, roasted malt, american hops, citrus, grapefruit. It is bitter, but not too bitter. I like it. Some liquorice too. Palate is smooth, medium carbonation, a bit creamy. Overall, a very drinkable imperial porter. Very good stuff.

Interesting dark color. Smells nicely roasted with tones of coffee. Nice hops, a lot of coffee and caramel, good balance between sweet and bitter.
