Bottled. Overall a fantastic super hoppy liquid dark chocolate in a bottle. Exotic citrusy aroma paired with coffee, espresso and dark chocolate. Taste mirrors the aroma plus warming alcohol. Pitch black color, espresso almsot cremy head. Super hoppy and dry espresso finish and aftertaste. Excellent beer!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of Flying Dogís more acclaimed beers, unfortunately not (yet?) for sale at Albert Heijn supermarkets like some of their other offerings... Thick and frothy, dense, very stable head remaining closed all the time, deep yellow beige in colour; ink black robe. Interesting and inviting aroma of dried fig, raisin, salmiak, dried grapefruit peel, coffee grounds, wet leather, beef stock, soy sauce, black pepper, whisky, burnt wood, cumin cheese, roasted walnut, strong toasted brown bread, black olive, ínaturalí iron, parsley, cloves, quite pronounced shoe polish-like solvents but well integrated and not at all disturbing. Onset is very much dominated by umami flavors, very beefy with hints of dried seaweed and very low dried fig-like sweetness and basic blackberry sourishness; mouthfeel is full and rich but lean and supple at the same time, with softish carbonation. A deep, thick dark maltiness ensues, very nutty and a tad caramelly, notably bitterly toasted and evolving into long, coffeeish, roasted barley-like bitterness, very mouth-filling and blending well with spicy, lightly dried citrus peel-like, leafy hop bitterness and a pleasant glow of warming, whisky-like alcohol which supports the flavors rather than disturbing them. I love imperial porters but this one has more than enough roasted bitterness to qualify as an imperial stouts - imperial porters are usually clearly sweeter. Regardless of that, this is a rich, beautifully textured, big malty beer packed with flavor, doubtlessly the best Flying Dog beer I had so far, along with their Horndog.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a pitch black color with hugue brown head. Aroma has cocoa, roasted malts, coffee, licorice and a big amount of grassy hops. Taste follows the aroma, dark cocoa powder, coffee, molasses, roasty/toasty notes and a very stong but harsh bitter ending.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer is a good one. Firstly the color is nice: black and the foam is brown and it is staying a good moment. The carbonation is average, decent hop androasted mal and nice taste of licor. The smell at the noise is present with hop. It is a nice one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Black yeast-flecked soup with a thick tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of black cherry, vanilla, pot puri and melted chocolate. Flavour of peanut shells, dark chocolate and wood with a bitter, peppery finish. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. An ugly beer, but itís rich and flavoursome. It definitely has some Black IPA qualities.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.355 l bottle from íSlijterij ít Fustí (Hoorn), best before September 2016. Pitch black with a large, stable, creamy, light brown head. Roasty-malty, slightly fruity-resiny aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice, tropical fruits and pine. Sweetish-malty, roasty and fruity-resiny taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, tropical fruits and pine, followed by a long, roasty, rather bitter and resiny finish. Full body, creamy and effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Intense flavours, good mouthfeel and satisfying, great stuff! Leans heavily towards an Imperial BIPA.
