Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

From a bottle. Didn't get as much coffee as I expected. Hoppy for a dark beer. Not easy to drink, but solid a beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Flying Dog Brewery poured into a goblet. Pours a brownish black with tan head. Aromas of hops, dark chocolate, roast. Tasting notes of pine, dark chocolate, roast, good amount of hops. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Pretty good fresh but I prefer this with a year on it as the hops fade away.

12 oz bottle. Pours black, with a large tan head which persists. Good lacing. Nose is roasted malt and hops. Taste is coffee and dark roasted malts, with a hop finish. Not bad, but not outstanding.

Chocolat, café. Bonne balance des gouts. Corps moyen. Alcool peu présent. Mais il manque un peu d’agressivité ŕ mon gout.

Cask at rattle n hum in NYC. Deep dark brown with mocha head. Aroma is smoky, toasted malt, semi-sweet chocolate, and a hint of raisin. Taste is mild and balanced. Full body for a porter, nice and creamy. Soft carbo. Nice beer.

Aroma - very roasty, high octane espresso, alcohol a little resiny as well. Bazinga! Appearance - it is a big black body, with a tan-brown 2" head. Set-ups like a champ! Laces all the way down. Sexy beer Taste - pour espresso onto fire. Put it out with super clean water. Filter that out, and that’s sort of it’s essence. It has rich malt, deep roast, the darkest of chocolate, and alcohol hidden behind it. It for deep roast heads. Palate - It’s a big take on for a novice. It’s intense. The body is full, the texture somewhere between oily-creamy-sticky-slick (it’s really that insane). The finish is super-long. It’s a like you had an all night outdoor autumn fire in your mouth. It’s so soaked in flavor. I’m not quite sure what to say about this, other than it is complex in the best of descriptions. It’s not for the faint of heart. It takes real intense beer lovers to take it on. Take your time let it warm. It’s nuances blow off the chart. I have a hard time rating beers when they hit all the marks. A lot of time, beers can hit those marks and not be enjoyable (Lost Abbey). This was not one of those beers. Great beer.
