Pours black with a dark brown head, if the head would have been more long lasting Id rate the apearence as a 5.
The aroma is sweet with lots of roasted malts and coffe.

Dec 1, 2008 Deep black color pour with red highlights and a small creamy brown head. Smoky malt, roasted coffee, molasses and chocolate in the aroma. Flavor is coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth and full on the palate. A hint of warming alcohol on the finish. Thats a good brew!

Nov 28, 2008 The color of blackstrap molasses. Full, dense head of foam. Pretty. Smells of dark chocolate, soy sauce, malt, molasses and dates. some tobacco. The mouthfeel is full, oily and quite seductive. Tastes of Dark chocolate, espresso, salt, peanuts, well placed bitterness and an ever so slight touch of alcohol. an extremely enjoyable and well made beer. Very drinkable for its size.

Nov 28, 2008 From bottle. Part of January Dayton Beer Tasting event. Pours nearly black with brown head. Aromas of coffee, malt and smoke. Flavors of coffee and chocolate dominate the taste. Not as full bodies as expected. Nice long finish. Good effort.

Nov 27, 2008 Deep dark brown body with a decent tan head. Some white pepper in the aroma which is mainly all I got. Taste is smooth dark chocolate, only just noticeable alcohol, don’t expect a lot of flavours for a porter though I liked this better than the grand imperial porter that I had the other day although it doesn’t seem any more complex or anything it just drank a lot smoother.

Nov 26, 2008 11/22/08. 2005 vintage that I picked up at Bottleworks in Seattle. Wonderful roasted smells with raisins, prunes, a little hint of smoke. Wonderful flavors. Prune, raisin, roasted malt, a good dark chocolate flavor, cherry and currants, and a bit of caramel. Really smooth, warm with a slight stick to the mouth. Ohh the wonders of aging!!
